As part of our national engineering team, the Engineering Intern will support the planning and design of building systems for a variety of federal, state, transportation, aviation, and commercial projects. Our discipline teams include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, fire protection, and structural engineering. This internship is a great opportunity for a student who is interested in building systems and infrastructure design and wants to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.\nWe have availability for internship positions in ourDallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, and Houston office locations and offer a hybrid, flexible work schedule that supports collaboration, mentorship, and team connection.\nWhat You'll Do:\nIn this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and designers, gaining exposure to real-world projects and the tools, processes, and coordination that support successful project delivery. You will assist with design and documentation tasks, develop your technical skills through practical application, and learn how engineering systems are planned, designed, and coordinated across different project types and phases.\nAdditional responsibilities will include:\nSupport engineering design efforts under the guidance of engineering staff in one or more building systems disciplines, which may include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, telecommunications/technology, fire protection, or structural engineering.\nAssist with the preparation of construction drawings, models, diagrams, and details using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design tools.\nPrepare engineering calculations and other technical documentation with direction from project engineers.\nAssist with system layout development, equipment or component selections, and design coordination based on project requirements.\nSupport the preparation of written and graphic reports, design narratives, technical memoranda, and other project deliverables.\nAssist with site survey data collection, input, verification, and organization.\nReview and organize product data, shop drawings, and submittals during the construction administration phase.\nCoordinate with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.\nParticipate in team meetings and contribute to project-related tasks as assigned.\nTravel locally on an intermittent basis, as needed, to support site visits or project coordination activities.\nWhat You Need to Succeed:\nRequired Qualifications:\nPursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.\nCompletion of at least two years of coursework in Architectural Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum GPA of 3.0.\nStrong interest in building systems, infrastructure design, and multi-disciplinary project delivery.\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nSelf-motivated, organized, and able to work productively with intermittent supervision.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior internship, co-op, academic, or project experience related to building systems, structural systems, infrastructure, or multi-disciplinary engineering design.\nFamiliarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or other 3D modeling/design software.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.\nFamiliarity with Bluebeam or other PDF markup/manipulation software.\nInterest or coursework in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, electrical power, lighting, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunications/technology systems, or structural design.\nCompensation:\nThe approximate compensation range for this position is $20 - $25 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
