This position uses traditional software development, low-code platforms, system integrations, and artificial intelligence (AI) to build practical, reliable solutions that improve efficiency and deliver business value.\nThe Software Developer collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand business needs, develop effective solutions, and continuously improve applications, analytical tools, and workflows.\nHow You Will Make an Impact\nApplication Development & Maintenance\nDesign, develop, deploy, and maintain applications using Python, Quickbase, and web technologies.\nDevelop software that supports engineering calculations, analytical models, data processing, and technical workflows, including the modernization of spreadsheet-based engineering tools, in collaboration with Michaels’ engineering staff.\nDevelop and enhance Quickbase applications, including data models, interfaces, reports, dashboards, and automated workflows, designed for maintainability and future portability.\nSupport the modernization and migration of legacy applications and platforms.\nWrite, maintain, and improve code that supports business applications and client-facing solutions.\nTroubleshoot technical issues, resolve defects, and improve application performance and reliability.\nRespond to support requests and bug tickets within established SLAs.\nFollow software development best practices for testing, documentation, version control, and security.\nPrepare and maintain technical documentation and provide user training as needed.\nSystems Integration & Automation\nDevelop and maintain integrations between internal applications, client systems, and third-party services using APIs and other integration technologies.\nBuild and maintain automated workflows, data pipelines, and scheduled processes.\nDevelop solutions that improve data accessibility, accuracy, consistency, and reliability.\nImplement data access controls and security practices that protect business and client data.\nSupport the deployment and maintenance of applications and automated processes in cloud environments.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency through automation.\nAI Solutions Development\nCollaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI-enabled applications and workflow automation.\nDevelop, test, and implement AI-powered solutions using APIs, large language models, and related technologies.\nIntegrate AI capabilities into existing applications, business processes, and data workflows.\nEvaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, security, and practical business value.\nResearch and apply emerging AI development tools and techniques to improve software delivery.\nHow do you contribute?\nAfter 3 months, you will have….\nDeveloped a working understanding of Michaels Energy’s software ecosystem, including Quickbase applications, Python-based solutions, integrations, and development practices.\nAssumed ownership of assigned applications and workflows, independently troubleshooting issues, resolving bugs, and responding to support requests within established SLAs.\nSuccessfully delivered initial software enhancements or automation solutions, demonstrating proficiency with our development tools, testing practices, and version control.\nCollaborated effectively with the Software Product Manager and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, establish priorities, and contribute to technical solution design.\nAfter 6 months, you will have….\nIndependently designed, developed, tested, and deployed software solutions that address business needs, including Quickbase applications, Python development, and system integrations.\nDelivered meaningful improvements to operational efficiency, data reliability, and application maintainability through automation, modernization, and integration initiatives.\nContributed to the development and deployment of AI-enabled solutions, demonstrating practical application of emerging technologies to business workflows.\nDemonstrated consistent ownership of assigned development work, meeting delivery commitments, maintaining documentation, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders.\nWhat are the metrics for this role?\nCompleted Quarterly Goals -
