Today, we are setting the benchmark across every tire and travel-related services market, while leading a global strategy to drive sustainable, profitable growth.\nMichelin North America (Canada) Inc., which operates three tire manufacturing facilities in Nova Scotia, is seeking an Automation Engineer to join its team in Waterville, Nova Scotia.\nTheAutomation Engineer will support the manufacturing process and equipment by designing, specifying, purchasing and constructing electrical automation systems and components. This position will include aspects of project management, technical specification, design, analysis, installation management, equipment start-up and manufacturing.\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for completing the automation portion of projects to enable the plant to meet its market, productivity, and quality goals. They will assist management with pre-studies of deployment and development projects in the electrical automation field. They will also complete design studies and follow procurement and fabrication of equipment and lead the installation, commissioning and start-up of the equipment in an industrial plant environment.\nJob responsibilities include:\nproviding detailed electrical design and automation programming for assigned projects and plant technical assistance;\nproviding estimates and technical schedules for all phases of process equipment addition, replacement or upgrade;\nproviding backup support and training to plant maintenance teams on newly implemented automation systems;\ncollaborating with internal company support groups to accomplish objectives, and provide contract engineering management and direction when needed; and,\nparticipating in assigned major capital projects and/or modifications from start to finish, including equipment reception, commissioning, and acceptance.\nRequirements for this position include:\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or related field; and,\nminimum of 2-4 years of proven experience in electrical automation design.\nThe following assets are preferred, but not required:\nexperience with electrical design standards and the ability to complete controls systems designs using standard CAD design tools;\nexperience in Project Team Leadership or Project Management;\nexperience with PLC programming standards and programming software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text (Rockwell and Siemens);\nexperience with Variable Frequency drives and Motion Control technologies (Rockwell, Siemens and Control Techniques);\nexperience with HMI configuration, programming and communication (Rockwell);\nexperience with control systems network interfaces and various protocols for communications between devices including computer system databases;\nvision system configuration and interface for width measurement applications and defect detection applications (specific experience with Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator is an asset); and,\nrobotic experience, configuration or knowledge (Fanuc, ABB).\nCompetencies:\nsolid written and verbal communication skills;\nwell-organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;\nability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision;\ndemonstrated solid teamwork, interpersonal, leadership and planning skills; and,\nability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality in dealings with outside contractors and equipment suppliers.\nHow to apply:\nPlease merge your cover letter and resume into one Word or PDF document.
