This role provides broad technical ownership and visibility across the full validation lifecycle, from early system architecture and platform development through validation and product release.\nMicrochip’s Communications Business Unit (CBU) develops high-performance networking, connectivity, and edge compute semiconductor solutions that power communications infrastructure, data centers, automotive systems, aerospace and defense platforms, and industrial applications. engineering disciplines while working with advanced technologies including high-speed Ethernet, PCI Express, optical networking, FPGA-based platforms, space-hardened embedded processors, automotive generation of engineering talent and technical practices within our organization.\nWhat we do:\nDesign high-speed boards (up to 224 Gbps) using Microchip and third-party ICs, digital and analog circuits, and large programmable devices.\nDesign highly integrated, sophisticated FPGAs using VHDL/SystemVerilog.\nIntegrate complex test platforms containing multiple CPUs, high speed backplanes, traffic generation devices/testers, software, and boards developed by our team.\nPlan and execute device feature tests, including results analysis, bug detection, and extensive root-cause analysis using Python and C/C++.\nWork with leading edge test equipment such as 1.6T Ethernet testers, oscilloscopes, phase noise analyzers, network analyzers, and microprocessor trace probes.\nIntegrate software SDK to control our hardware systems.\nCreate application-level system configuration scripts to control the device, the test platform, and the test equipment using Python.\nCreate embedded processor test applications to benchmark and stress multi-core SOCs using C/C++\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex problems in embedded multi-core SOCs.\nWork closely with and collaborate with members of the Product Design, Verification, Software, Software Test, Applications, Marketing, and Product Engineering teams.\nAdd value to our devices by finding issues and developing and testing lifecycle.\nDefine validation plans, qualification criteria, coverage metrics, and release readiness requirements that ensure product quality and successful deployment.\nDesign, develop, and maintain advanced validation platforms spanning hardware, FPGA, software, automation, and system-level integration.\nLead investigation and root-cause analysis of complex silicon, hardware, firmware, software, networking, and interoperability issues.\nDrive technical decision-making and influence product architecture, validation methodologies, and technical roadmaps for future products and platforms.\nPartner with Product Design, Verification, Software, Applications, Product Engineering, Marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product execution.\nCollaborate with customers, technology partners, and internal teams to understand deployment challenges and influence product and validation priorities.\nLead and mentor engineers across multiple disciplines while promoting engineering excellence, technical growth, and best practices.\nManage external engineering partners, including SOW development, technical oversight, milestone reviews, risk management, and deliverable acceptance.\nCoordinate project priorities, schedules, resources, and technical deliverables to achieve program objectives and business goals.\nDevelop and deploy new tools, automation key risks to engineering leadership and stakeholders.\nRequirements/Qualifications:\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.\n12+ years related experience.\nProven technical leadership skills, including leadership of engineering teams, projects, or cross-functional initiatives.\nStrong coaching and mentoring skills.\nPreferred Qualifications (experience with one or more):\nDebug, validation, and bring-up of complex SoCs incorporating high-speed interfaces such as PCI Express and Ethernet.\nHigh-speed networking, communications, or edge-compute systems.\nFPGA development using VHDL or SystemVerilog.\nDesign and development of sophisticated hardware, software, or FPGA-based validation platforms.\nDevelopment of embedded software or firmware using C/C++.\nPython software development, scripting, automation, and test framework development.\nSystem integration involving hardware, firmware, software, networking, and test infrastructure.\nRoot-cause analysis of complex product, interoperability, performance, or system-level issues.\nHigh-speed serial technologies including SerDes, NRZ, PAM4, equalization techniques, and signal integrity concepts.\nSystem characterization, margin analysis, performance optimization, and reliability testing of high-speed communication systems.\nPCI Express, Ethernet, optical networking, switching, routing, or related communications technologies.\nUse of advanced laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs, protocol analyzers, and related test equipment.\nSignal integrity, compliance testing, and characterization of high-speed interfaces.\nCustomer engagement, technical support, field issue investigation, or direct interaction with
