We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Design Engineering to lead our Design and Verification organization in Bangalore, India. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the architecture, design, and verification of advanced silicon solutions while fostering the growth and development of a high-performing engineering team.\nThe ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in high-speed connectivity technologies with proven leadership experience managing global engineering teams and delivering complex ASIC/SoC products from concept through production.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead and manage multidisciplinary Design and Verification teams responsible for advanced silicon products, including PCIe Switches, Retimers, CXL Controllers, SAS Controllers, and Enterprise Flash Storage solutions.\nDrive technical strategy, architecture, design execution, and product innovations to support next-generation data center and AI infrastructure solutions.\nCollaborate effectively across global engineering organizations to achieve aggressive time-to-market (TTM) objectives.\nDefine architecture and implementation strategies aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and technology roadmaps.\nOversee all phases of silicon development, including specification development, RTL design, functional verification, synthesis, timing closure, physical implementation support, silicon bring-up, and production release.\nPartner closely with Architecture, Firmware, Validation, Product Management, Program Management, and Applications Engineering teams to deliver high-quality products.\nDrive adoption of industry best practices, innovative design methodologies, and advanced verification techniques to improve design quality and engineering efficiency.\nBuild, mentor, and develop engineering talent while fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nManage project schedules, resource planning, risk mitigation, and execution to deliver products on time and with high quality.\nEngage directly with customers, ecosystem partners, and key stakeholders to understand market requirements and support successful product deployment.\nMaintain technical leadership by staying current with industry standards and emerging technologies, including PCIe, CXL, SAS, NVMe, AI infrastructure, and high-speed interconnect solutions.\n.\nRequirements/Qualifications:\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n20+ years of semiconductor industry experience, including significant leadership experience managing design and verification teams.\nProven track record of successfully delivering complex ASIC/SoC products from architecture through volume production.\nDeep expertise in PCIe, CXL, SAS, NVMe, and high-speed connectivity architectures and protocols.\nStrong hands-on knowledge of RTL design using Verilog/SystemVerilog and verification methodologies such as UVM.\nComprehensive understanding of the semiconductor development lifecycle, including synthesis, timing closure, physical implementation, DFT, silicon validation, and tape-out processes.\nDemonstrated success leading geographically distributed teams within a global engineering organization.\nExcellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and project execution skills.\nPrior leadership experience working with North American engineering organizations and customers.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in Enterprise Flash Storage Controllers, PCIe Switches, Retimers, and CXL-based architectures.\nStrong understanding of silicon security, reliability, functional safety, power management, and performance optimization techniques.\nExperience driving customer engagements, architecture reviews, and technical roadmap discussions.\nPrevious experience working within multinational semiconductor companies.\nKnowledge of AI infrastructure, hyperscale data center architectures, and emerging memory technologies is highly desirable.\nWhy Join Microchip?\nLead the development of cutting-edge silicon solutions powering next-generation Data Center and AI infrastructure.\nInfluence product strategy and technology roadmaps for industry-leading connectivity and storage solutions.\nCollaborate with a world-class team of engineers, architects, and innovators across global locations.\nWork in a dynamic, inclusive, and highly collaborative environment focused on innovation and technical excellence.\nMake a significant impact in one of the semiconductor industry's fastest-growing markets.\nTravel Requirements\nDomestic and international travel up to 25%.\nTravel Time:\n0% - 25%To all recruitment agencies: Microchip Technology Inc. does not accept unsolicited agency resumes.
