People like you.\nVisit our careers page to see what exciting opportunities and company perks await!\nJob Description:\nMicrochip has an opportunity in for an Ultra-Pure Water Engineer II at our Fab 5 facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The UPW Engineer in the semiconductor industry is responsible for the design, operation, monitoring, and optimization of the ultra-pure water system that is critical to the wafer fabrication process. You will ensure high reliability, compliance with quality standards, and operation efficiency to support a 24/6 manufacturing environment. This position is also responsible for the wastewater treatment for the site.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOversee the operation and maintenance of UPW systems, including reverse osmosis, deionization, ultrafiltration, UV oxidation, and chemical dosing units.\nMonitor water quality parameters and system performance using analytical instruments and SCADA/PLC systems.\nTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to water purity, system reliability, and process interruptions.\nDevelop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for UPW equipment.\nLead or support projects for system upgrades, expansions, and new installations, including vendor management and commissioning activities.\nCollaborate with process engineering, production, and EHS teams to ensure water quality meets SEMI and company standards.\nPrepare and maintain documentation, including SOPs, maintenance logs, and compliance reports.\nTrain operations and maintenance staff on UPW system procedures and best practices.\nEnsure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.\nShift: 1st\nRequirements/Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required.\n3+ years of experience with ultra-pure water systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.\nStrong knowledge of water purification technologies and semiconductor industry standards (e.g., SEMI F63, ASTM D5127).\nExperience with automated control systems (PLC/SCADA) and water quality instrumentation.\nExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.\nAbility to work in cleanroom environments and respond to emergencies as needed.\nPreferred Skills:\nExperience with project management and vendor coordination.\nFamiliarity with cleanroom protocols and contamination control.\nKnowledge of wastewater treatment and recycling systems is a plus\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to work in cleanroom and utility areas, including wearing appropriate PPE.\nRequires lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.\nTravel Time:\n0% - 25%Physical Attributes:\nBending at Waist, Bending at Waist, Carrying, Climbing, Crawling, Crouching, Dust or gases, Electrical Hazards, Feeling, Foot Controls, Fumes or Odors, Handling, Hearing, Kneeling, Lifting, Mechanical Hazards, Noise and/or vibration, Other, Piece Work, Poor Ventilation, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Seeing, Slippery surfaces {+ 5 more}Physical Requirements:\nAble to lift, push, pull approx. 50 lbs; carry 50 lbs; sit 5%; stand 60%; walk 35%Pay Range:\nWe offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry.
