People like you.\nVisit our careers page to see what exciting opportunities and company perks await!\nJob Description:\nPosition Summary\nMicrochip Technology is seeking an experienced power electronics Subject Matter Expert to provide technical leadership, customer technical support, and application expertise for the High-Power Solutions (HPS) Business Unit in India. This role is primarily technical in nature, focused on helping customers successfully design, validate, and adopt Microchip high-power semiconductor solutions in high-power and high-voltage applications. The position requires strong hands-on knowledge of high-voltage and high-power conversion systems, including Silicon Carbide (SiC), IGBTs, Power Modules, Gate Drivers, and related power technologies.\nThe successful candidate will work directly with customer engineering teams to understand system requirements, recommend solutions, resolve design challenges, and guide projects from concept through production. In partnership with the regional BDM, this individual will support design-win activity, qualify opportunities, and provide field-based technical and market insight to internal teams.\nThis is primarily a technical SME role with a defined business-development component. The ideal candidate will use technical credibility, customer relationships, and application insight to support strategic account growth and design-win activity.\nThis individual will help connect customer application needs, competitive positioning, technical gaps, market trends, and account opportunities back to internal stakeholders while supporting Microchip’s growth in strategic markets such as Industrial Infrastructure, AI Power Infrastructure, Semiconductor Capital Equipment, Grid & Energy, Renewable Energy, Medical, and Commercial Transportation.\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Leadership and Application Expertise\nServe as the regional HPS technical authority for key customers in India providing advanced technical support for customer designs using Microchip SiC MOSFETs, IGBTs, Power Modules, Gate Drivers, and related high-power products.\nAnalyze customer power-conversion architectures and recommend device selection, gate-drive approaches, protection strategies, cross reference competitive devices, layout practices, and system-level implementation improvements.\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and remove technical barriers to adoption, including performance, reliability, thermal, EMI, switching-loss, qualification, and system-integration challenges.\nSupport customer evaluation and qualification activities from early concept through production release.\nDevelop and deliver high-quality technical content, including technical presentations, training material, application guidance, design reviews, reference design recommendations, white papers, and customer-facing technical documentation.\nMentor field and applications engineers, support knowledge transfer across regional teams, and contribute to the continued growth of HPS technical capability and engineering excellence.\nCustomer Technical Engagement and Design-In Support\nLead customer technical discussions, design reviews and solution demonstrations for high-power semiconductor applications.\nPartner with the regional BDM, Client Engagement Managers, Product Marketing, Sales, and Applications Engineering to identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities aligned with HPS strategy and customer needs.\nTranslate customer requirements into technical recommendations, value propositions, opportunity assessments, and internal feedback.\nBuild trusted relationships with customer engineering teams, technical decision makers, and account stakeholders.\nProvide competitive and market insight based on customer designs, emerging applications, technology trends, and commercial drivers.\nRepresent HPS in customer meetings, technical workshops, conferences, and industry events.\nSupport account strategies, business reviews, opportunity funnel development, design-win tracking, and revenue forecasting with technical assessment of opportunity fit and risk.\nProduct & System Development\nCollaborate with Applications Engineering teams on evaluation boards, demonstration platforms, reference designs, test plans, and application validation activities.\nSupport new product introductions by helping validate customer use cases, evaluate competitive positioning, and identify technical requirements for successful adoption.\nAssist customers with simulation, design optimization, loss analysis, thermal analysis, gate-drive design, protection design, switching behavior, and high-power system implementation.\nProvide feedback on documentation, tools, models, evaluation hardware, and technical collateral needed to improve customer design efficiency Drivers, thermal performance, switching behavior, protection, EMI, and system optimization.\nPartner with the regional BDM, Sales, Product Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Product Development to identify opportunities, improve technical collateral, and close field application gaps.\nDevelop as a customer-facing technical leader with meaningful involvement in strategic business development and HPS growth initiatives.\nRequirements/Qualifications:\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in Applications Engineering, Field Applications Engineering, Power Electronics Design, System Architecture, or related technical disciplines.\nStrong technical experience with high-voltage and high-power semiconductor technologies, including SiC, IGBTs, Power Modules, Gate Drivers, and related power devices.\nDemonstrated expertise in high-power conversion systems, including topology selection, device selection, gate-drive design, protection, thermal design, layout, and system optimization.\nExperience supporting customer design activity from architecture review through evaluation, debug, validation, qualification, and production release.\nExperience conducting customer design reviews and providing system-level recommendations for high-power conversion applications.\nExperience using circuit- and system-level simulation tools such as SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent tools.\nStrong communication and presentation skills for engineering, management, commercial, and cross-functional audiences.\nAbility to engage customers, identify opportunity potential, and influence technical and business decisions through subject-matter expertise.\nAbility to work independently while partnering effectively with the regional BDM, Sales, Product Marketing, and Applications Engineering.\nKnowledge of Indian customer requirements, industry standards, design practices, and application trends.\nWillingness to travel within India to support customer technical engagements, design reviews, workshops, and opportunity development.\nDesirable Qualifications\nMaster’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related technical discipline.\nDeep experience with wide-bandgap technologies, especially SiC device behavior, gate driving, protection, switching performance, reliability, and system integration.\nHands-on experience with high-power lab testing, double-pulse testing, thermal characterization, gate-drive optimization, EMI mitigation, or system bring-up.\nExperience with applications such as industrial drives, grid-tied converters, renewable energy, energy storage, AI/data-center power, semiconductor capital equipment, medical power, or commercial transportation.\nPrior experience in Field Applications Engineering, Applications Engineering, Technical Marketing,
