Position Overview

As a Micron Singapore Construction Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems in semiconductor manufacturing facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical System Design & Engineering:

- Develop and review detailed electrical designs, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts, ensuring they meet the specific needs for manufacturing, cleanrooms and process areas.

- Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, and system capacity planning to ensure electrical infrastructure is robust and reliable.

- Work with the general contractor to specify and select electrical equipment, such as switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, and backup power systems (SMS, DUPS), ensuring compliance with industry standards.

- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, etc.) to ensure the electrical design is integrated with other building systems.

Stakeholder & Program Management

-Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including project owners, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

-Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

-Establish program milestones, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to track progress and performance.

Construction Support & Installation Oversight:

- Provide technical guidance to construction teams during the installation of electrical systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.

- Review and approve electrical submittals, shop drawings, and contractor work plans.

- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and verify that electrical work is performed in compliance with codes and regulations.

- Work with the general contractor to manage and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for the procurement, delivery, and installation of electrical components.

Testing, Commissioning, & Handover:

- Oversee and participate in the testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and control systems.

- Work with the general contractor and/or sub contractors to perform or oversee functional testing, troubleshooting, and adjustments to ensure systems operate according to design and client requirements.

- Review documentation for system handover, including as-built drawings, test reports, and operating manuals.

- Lead or support the transition to facilities operations, providing technical expertise during the ramp-up phase and ongoing support as needed.

Compliance, Safety, & Continuous Improvement:

- Ensure all electrical installations comply with relevant codes (e.g., NEC, IEEE), safety standards (NFPA, OSHA, MOM), and environmental regulations.

- Implement best practices for energy efficiency, sustainability, and electrical safety within semiconductor environments.

- Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and semiconductor manufacturing technologies, recommending improvements or innovative solutions for future projects.

- Participate in post-project reviews and implement lessons learned to improve electrical designs and processes in subsequent projects.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within the semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing sector.

- Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex electrical construction programs, including installation and commissioning.

- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards

- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

- Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, prioritize workload, and collaborate in a team environment.

- Service-oriented and self-motivated.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using AI-enabled tools, data analytics platforms, digital engineering solutions, or automation technologies to improve engineering, operations, maintenance, or project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to adopt new digital technologies and incorporate AI-assisted methods into daily work processes.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a site-based role requiring full-time presence on the construction site.
