Based at the NY CREATES Albany NanoTech Complex, the Albany team partners with equipment suppliers, research associates, and Micron’s global development groups to advance High-NA EUV, advanced patterning, and next-generation DRAM pathfinding.\nPosition Summary\nAs a CVD Equipment Development Engineer, Advanced Memory Pathfinding, you will build, implement, and refine advanced CVD and thin-film equipment supporting High-NA EUV and next-generation memory technology development at Albany.\nYou will work alongside Process Development, Process Integration, Facilities, NY CREATES engineering teams, and equipment suppliers to transform future technology needs into equipment capability, hardware configurations, controls, automation, and qualification plans. You will support equipment from initial capability evaluation and supplier interaction through installation, qualification, technology learning, continuous improvement, and manufacturing-readiness evaluation.\nThis role differs from routine sustaining equipment engineering. It focuses on selected new, outstanding, first-of-a-kind, or technology-critical equipment. Direct Micron leadership is required to develop capability, influence supplier roadmaps, protect strategic technology learning, and enable transfer readiness!\nResponsibilities\nEquipment Technology Development\nDevelop and mature first-of-a-kind CVD equipment and chamber capabilities for carbon, dielectric, hardmask, liner, and advanced thin-film applications.\nTranslate film-property, process, device, and integration requirements into equipment specifications, precursor and delivery requirements, chamber configurations, temperature and plasma controls, automation needs, and performance targets.\nSupplier Co-Development and Roadmap Influence\nWork directly with equipment suppliers to develop hardware and capability solutions for emerging memory technologies.\nCommunicate Micron’s long-term requirements and influence supplier technology and product roadmaps.\nInstallation, Qualification, and Equipment Readiness\nSupport equipment configuration, technical specification, site planning, facilities requirements, installation, startup, and qualification.\nEstablish equipment acceptance criteria and qualification plans that correspond with process development and integration requirements.\nCoordinate with NY builds, Facilities, suppliers, Process Development, and Equipment Engineering to reach equipment-readiness achievements.\nEquipment Maturity and Performance\nDevelop and complete equipment-maturity plans covering film uniformity, thickness control, composition, conformality, step coverage, particles, contamination, chamber matching, precursor utilization, reliability, efficiency, safety, and cost.\nAnalyze complicated equipment and hardware faults by applying structured problem-solving methods.\nLead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for equipment-related performance gaps.\nTechnology Enablement Across Multiple Functions\nWork together with Process Development and Process Integration engineers to understand process windows, hardware interactions, equipment limitations, and integration risks.\nCoordinate equipment learning with Metrology, Automation, Data Systems, Facilities, Environment, Health and Safety, and NY builds operations.\nAutomation, Data Analytics, and AI Enablement\nDevelop equipment-data strategies that enable rapid solving, capability assessment, and maturity tracking. \nLeverage equipment signals, fault-detection data, sensors, and process results to understand hardware performance.\nApply statistical methods, modeling, and AI-assisted analytics to identify anomalies, accelerate root-cause analysis, and improve decision quality.\nTechnology Transfer and Long-Term Support Model\nDevelop the equipment knowledge package required to transfer successful capabilities into Micron development and manufacturing sites.\nDocument hardware configurations, qualification criteria, operating limits, maintenance requirements, lessons learned, and known risks.\nDefine the appropriate transition from development ownership to sustaining ownership.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field.\nFive or more years of semiconductor equipment engineering, equipment development, technology development, or related experience.\nExperience developing, installing, qualifying, improving, or solving issues with complex semiconductor equipment.\nExperience using AI tools for productivity. \nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree or Ph.D. in an applicable engineering or scientific field or equivalent experience.\nExperience with first-of-a-kind or advanced semiconductor equipment.\nExperience with DRAM, advanced memory, CVD, PECVD, ALD, thermal deposition, precursor delivery, thin-film metrology, or related equipment systems.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nThe successful candidate will:\nEnsure key CVD and thin-film equipment operate effectively for High-NA EUV and next-generation DRAM pathfinding.\nMature first-of-a-kind equipment into reliable and usable development capability.\nResolve equipment and hardware shortages before they obstruct essential technology learning.\nEstablish strong technical partnerships with NY builds and equipment suppliers.\nAbout the Albany Group\nThe Albany team supports Micron’s High-NA EUV and next-generation memory pathfinding within the NY CREATES research ecosystem. It bridges Micron’s technology-development priorities and equipment suppliers, research partners, advanced tools, operating systems, and technical capabilities essential for safe, efficient experiments that yield useful learning outcomes.\nThe US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:\n$159,000.00 - $271,000.00 a yearAdditional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.\nOur salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
