By leveraging embedded systems expertise, AI-enabled development practices, and innovative engineering methodologies, the team delivers high-performance, reliable SSD products for data center, enterprise, and cloud applications.\nPosition Overview\nAs an SSD Firmware Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop, test, and optimize firmware for Micron's SSD products. This role provides hands-on experience in embedded systems, firmware development, debugging, code quality improvement, and AI-assisted engineering workflows while contributing to the performance, reliability, and scalability of next-generation storage solutions.\nResponsibilities\nCollaborate with firmware engineers to develop, test, and enhance SSD firmware functionality using modern software development and AI-assisted engineering tools.\nDebug and resolve firmware issues to improve product performance, reliability, and quality.\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to software quality, maintainability, and development best practices.\nDevelop and execute test plans to validate firmware features and support product qualification activities.\nDocument firmware features, enhancements, and technical information for internal and external stakeholders.\nMinimum Qualifications\n0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research, coursework, academic projects, or firmware/software development activities.\nCurrently pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.\nProficiency in C/C++ programming acquired through coursework, projects, internships, or research experience.\nBasic understanding of embedded systems, firmware development, debugging, and software engineering principles.\nFamiliarity with generative AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI development platforms.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious internship, research, or project experience in firmware, embedded software, storage systems, or software engineering.\nKnowledge of SSD technology, NAND flash memory, storage architectures, or data storage systems.\nExperience using software development tools such as Git, JIRA, or similar version control and project management platforms.\nExperience with scripting languages such as Python for automation, testing, or data analysis.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet project deadlines, and deliver high-quality technical solutions.\nExperience applying AI-assisted development tools and workflows to improve engineering productivity, software development, debugging, or technical analysis.\nThe US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:\n$33.10 - $55.82 an hourAdditional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.\nOur salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
