The team collaborates across process development and laboratory functions to drive innovation in memory technology through surface characterization and analysis.\nAs a Surface Scientist Intern, you will contribute to the development of next-generation memory solutions by applying surface science techniques to semiconductor devices and thin film materials. This internship offers hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation and collaborative research projects aimed at improving sample preparation and characterization methods.\nResponsibilities\nPartner with Surface Scientists to evaluate and enhance sample preparation and analysis techniques.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data, identify process improvement opportunities, and leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate data interpretation and insight generation.\nInnovate and refine characterization techniques using existing analytical tools and emerging digital capabilities.\nUtilize AI-enabled productivity and research tools to support literature reviews, data organization, technical documentation, and workflow efficiency.\nParticipate in technical meetings to explore new approaches, technologies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.\nDocument research findings through reports, presentations, and technical summaries using modern digital and AI-assisted communication tools.\nMinimum Qualifications\nCurrently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, andwill not graduate prior to September 2027.\nWorking knowledge of analytical instrumentation such as Nanomechanical, Thermal Mechanical, XPS, SIMS, FIB, SEM, and electrical characterization techniques.\nFamiliarity with data analysis software and digital productivity tools.\nInterest in learning and applying AI-enabled tools to support scientific research, data analysis, technical communication, coding, technical writing, literature research, or process optimization.\nStrong technical, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Passion for learning and problem-solving in a collaborative environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with surface science techniques in a semiconductor or research setting.\nAbility to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.\nFamiliarity with laboratory operations, measurement strategies, and data-driven decision making.\nDemonstrated creativity in applying scientific and digital tools to novel challenges.\nProven ability to work independently and contribute to team-based projects.\nAs a world leader in the semiconductor industry, Micron is dedicated to your personal wellbeing and professional growth.
