We address complex materials, process, patterning, and integration challenges to transform early concepts into manufacturable technologies that shape Micron's future memory products.\nAs a Principal Thin Film Process Development Engineer supporting Micron's collaboration with NY CREATES in Albany, New York, you will develop innovative thin-film and materials solutions for future memory technologies. You will apply deep technical expertise to solve semiconductor integration challenges and advance new concepts toward manufacturable technology.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop innovative thin-film and materials solutions for advanced DRAM architectures, patterning, and emerging integration schemes.\nTranslate semiconductor device and integration requirements into film properties and manufacturable process solutions.\nBuild, optimize, and characterize advanced thin-film deposition processes.\nAdvance new materials and processes from technical feasibility through semiconductor integration and demonstration on relevant test vehicles.\nDesign and implement rigorous experiments and DOEs; apply data-driven and AI-enabled methods to analyze results, optimize processes, and resolve material, defectivity, yield, and reliability challenges.\nPartner with process integration, patterning, etch, metrology, equipment, device, and supplier teams to evaluate new materials and process capabilities.\nProvide technical leadership by defining development strategy, influencing decisions, presenting recommendations, and mentoring engineers across multidisciplinary teams.\nMinimum Qualifications\nPhD/MS or equivalent experience with 3+ years of relevant semiconductor industry experience in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.\nDemonstrated industry experience in thin-film materials and/or process development for semiconductor applications.\nExperience applying thin-film, materials, surface science, deposition, or process-integration fundamentals to semiconductor development challenges.\nExperience designing and analyzing experiments using DOE and data-driven methods to develop or optimize materials and processes.\nProven ability to independently drive complex technical work and communicate recommendations across multidisciplinary teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with CVD, PECVD, ALD, PEALD, plasma-enhanced deposition, and/or other advanced thin-film technologies.\nExperience developing or integrating thin films for memory, logic, HPC/CMOS, or other semiconductor technologies.\nExperience with EUV or patterning-enabling films such as hard masks, underlayers, spacer materials, or etch-selective films.\nExperience using thin-film or surface characterization techniques such as XPS, AFM, XRD, ellipsometry, TEM/SEM, or SIMS to guide process development and integration.\nDemonstrated technical innovation through new material or process introduction, advanced process development, patents, or publications.\nThe US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:\n$111,000.00 - $190,000.00 a yearAdditional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.\nOur salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
