Because doing so can fuel the very innovation we are pursuing.\nThe Senior / Staff Engineer, Firmware Development (SSD) supports the development, validation, optimization, and debugging of high-performance SSD controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory solutions. This role executes firmware design and testing activities, performs failure analysis and issue isolation, and contributes to firmware quality, reliability, performance, and power-efficiency objectives. Working with cross-functional engineering teams, the Senior Engineer provides technical contributions across the product development lifecycle while mentoring less experienced engineers and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.\nMain Responsibilities\nDevelop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products to meet performance, endurance, capacity, functionality, quality, and reliability requirements. \nExecute firmware development, integration, bench testing, debugging, and validation activities for SSD controllers and storage products. \nPerform root cause analysis, failure triage, and defect isolation; document findings and support corrective actions. \nDevelop and maintain firmware unit, functional, and integration tests to ensure quality and performance objectives are met throughout the product lifecycle. \nCollaborate with hardware, validation, system, and product engineering teams to resolve complex development issues and improve product readiness. \nAnalyze firmware behavior and support enhancements that improve performance, reduce latency, lower power consumption, and simplify SoC complexity. \nOther Responsibilities\nProvide detailed and accurate technical updates, project status reports, and development summaries to management and cross-functional stakeholders. \nMaintain collaborative relationships across engineering teams and contribute to a positive, high-performance team environment. \nMentor junior engineers and technicians through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving support. \nContinuously develop technical expertise in firmware architecture, storage technologies, and software engineering best practices. \nAI Responsibilities\nIntegrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.\nContributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work. \nQualifications\nB.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.\nOver 3 years’ relevant experience in firmware or embedded systems development using the C programming language.\nTechnical Skills\nEmbedded firmware development using C and other high-level programming languages (e.g., Python).\nFirmware debugging, issue isolation, code analysis, root cause investigation, and validation activities.\nLow-level software development, including assembly language programming.\nFirmware analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance.\nSoft Skills\nStructured problem-solving and analytical thinking. \nClear technical communication and documentation skills. \nCross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement. \nAbility to work independently and manage technical priorities. \nMentoring and technical leadership capabilities. \nPreferred Skills\nPython programming and automation experience. \nExperience with PCIe and NVMe storage interfaces. \nExperience with SSD products, storage systems, or the storage industry. \nExperience with NAND flash memory and other non-volatile storage technologies. \nAbility to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes\nEmbody Micron’s Core Values\nPeople - Respect, develop, and empower others \nInnovation - Drive continuous improvement and breakthrough thinking \nTenacity - Show grit and determination \nCollaboration - Build trust and foster teamwork \nCustomer Focus - Deliver excellence and value \nSpeed - Act with purpose and set the pace\nAbout Micron Technology, Inc.\nWe are an industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions transforming how the world uses information to enrich lifefor all.
