You will be responsible for mechanical system architecture, structural design, thermal solutions, manufacturability, reliability, and lifecycle support of SIG products.\nWorking within a multidisciplinary global engineering team, you will collaborate closely with electrical, embedded software, controls, applications, manufacturing, procurement, technicians, and external suppliers to deliver innovative equipment solutions that enable Micron's next-generation memory technologies. The role requires strong technical ownership, project leadership, mentoring of junior engineers, and driving continuous improvement across design processes and product development methodologies.\nKey Responsibilities\nProduct Development & Design\nDesign and develop mechanical assemblies, frameworks, fixtures, and subsystems for semiconductor test and manufacturing equipment.\nCreate 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.\nPerform mechanical analysis including stress, vibration, thermal, airflow, and tolerance studies.\nDevelop concepts from requirements through prototype, validation, release, and sustaining support.\nEvaluate and select materials, manufacturing processes, and supplier solutions.\nEngineering Execution\nDrive mechanical design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards.\nSupport prototype builds, debug activities, qualification testing, and deployment.\nAnalyze failures, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.\nCollaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers during fabrication and assembly.\nManage engineering change processes and controlled documentation.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nWork closely with Electrical, Controls, Embedded Software, Applications, and Reliability teams to deliver integrated system solutions.\nParticipate in system architecture reviews and technology evaluations.\nSupport manufacturing, service, and field teams in issue resolution and continuous improvement efforts.\nTechnical Leadership\nLead complex mechanical projects with minimal supervision.\nMentor and guide junior mechanical engineers.\nIdentify opportunities for automation, standardization, modularity, and cost reduction.\nDrive innovation through new technologies, disclosures, patents, and best-known-method development.\nIntegrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.\nContribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within the scope of work.\nRequired Qualifications\nBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.\n6+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.\nStrong proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or equivalent.\nExperience with mechanical design for electro-mechanical systems.\nKnowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and manufacturing processes.\nExperience supporting prototype build, test, and qualification activities.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSemiconductor equipment or automated test equipment experience.\nExperience with sheet metal, machined parts, weldments, castings, and plastics.\nExposure to thermal management and airflow design.\nKnowledge of finite element analysis (FEA).\nFamiliarity with automation systems, robotics, motion control, and mechatronics.\nExperience with reliability methodologies such as FMEA and root-cause analysis.\nFamiliarity with Python or similar scripting languages for engineering automation.\nExperience working with global engineering teams and external suppliers.\nE3/E4 Framework Alignment\nIndependence\nWorks independently with guidance primarily from project objectives.\nActs as a subject matter expert in mechanical engineering.\nContribution\nLeads complex technical projects and major design initiatives.\nDrives engineering decisions, innovation efforts, and process improvements.\nGuides engineers on technical approaches and execution.\nImpact\nDecisions influence project success, equipment reliability, product cost, and development schedules.\nImpact extends across programs, products, and multiple engineering disciplines.\nAbout Micron Technology, Inc.\nWe are an industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions transforming how the world uses information to enrich lifefor all.
