This role is responsible for maximizing fab space utilization while balancing operational flexibility, cost effectiveness, expansion readiness, and future manufacturing requirements.\nThe Layout Senior Manager drives intelligent layout planning, digital transformation, and data-driven decision making through advanced modeling, simulation, automation, and AI-enabled solutions. This position also develops long-term space planning strategies and cross-site optimization methodologies to support Micron's business growth and manufacturing competitiveness.\nDrive Benchmarking Capabilities\nAlign layout planning practices, space utilization performance, and expansion project execution to meet or exceed Micron and industry benchmarking standards.\nRegularly report layout, space efficiency, and expansion project metrics through established review processes.\nMaintain ongoing collaboration with global Layout, Planning, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to identify and implement Best Known Methods (BKMs).\nPartner with Planning, Manufacturing, Facilities and AMHS teams to model fab growth scenarios, space utilization, and future capacity requirements.\nIdentify future space, infrastructure, and operational constraints before they are realized and develop mitigation plans to enable business growth.\nDrive development and deployment of intelligent layout systems, digital twin capabilities, simulation tools, and AI-enabled planning solutions.\nEnsure the department operates within budget while continuously identifying opportunities to improve space efficiency and reduce capital and operational costs.\nEstablish succession plans and technical development roadmaps for all key positions within the organization.\nMaintain strong relationships with suppliers, design partners, Facilities, and construction teams to ensure project objectives and business requirements are achieved.\nActively sponsor digital transformation, automation, and AI initiatives that improve layout planning productivity and decision quality.\nProject Management\nDrive a culture of project management excellence within the Layout organization.\nPrioritize and approve layout, expansion, relocation, and optimization projects that align with Micron strategic objectives.\nManage, measure, and monitor project execution to ensure deliverables are completed safely, on time, and within budget.\nLead site expansion, fab remodeling, technology conversion, tool relocation, office planning, and facility optimization projects.\nDrive cross-functional coordination among Manufacturing, Facilities, AMHS, Planning, Procurement, and Design teams throughout project lifecycles.\nPerformance Management\nChampion Micron behaviors, leadership expectations, and organizational competencies.\nEnsure clear direction, performance goals, job profiles, and expectations are established for all team members.\nFoster an environment that encourages innovation, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nComplete annual performance reviews, development plans, and mid-year assessments for all direct reports.\nPartner with team members to establish aggressive but achievable goals aligned with organizational objectives.\nRecruit, develop, and retain high-performing layout and planning professionals.\nDrive accountability through clear communication, performance metrics, data-driven decision-making, and project execution.\nEnsure performance gaps are identified early and addressed through coaching, mentoring, and development actions.\nBuild organizational capabilities in digital engineering, simulation, automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled planning.\nEducation\nBachelor's Degree or above in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related disciplines.\nExperience\nMinimum 10 years of semiconductor manufacturing experience.\nExperience in layout planning, fab expansion, capital projects, industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, or facilities planning.\nDemonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale expansion projects.\nQualifications\nStrong knowledge of fab layout planning, space utilization, facility infrastructure, and semiconductor manufacturing operations.\nDemonstrated experience in fab expansion, technology node migration, and capital project execution.\nComprehensive understanding of project management principles and methodologies.\nStrong leadership capability with the ability to effectively lead, influence, and present to small and large organizations.\nAbility to establish collaborative partnerships across business functions and global organizations.\nStrong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.\nExperience with simulation, digital twin, modeling, and optimization tools.\nKnowledge of AI, advanced analytics, and intelligent planning systems to support strategic and operational decision making.\nProven ability to develop long-term space strategies that improve operational efficiency, scalability, and business competitiveness.\nAbout Micron Technology, Inc.\nWe are an industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions transforming how the world uses information to enrich lifefor all.
