Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Controller is responsible for the integrity of the company’s financial reporting, the effectiveness of internal controls, and the leadership of the accounting function. \n\nThis role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely financial information, maintaining compliance with Canadian accounting and statutory requirements, overseeing treasury and cash flow management, supporting ERP optimization, and enabling informed decision making across the organization. \n\nKey Responsibilities \n\nFinancial Reporting & Close \n\nOversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. \n\nPrepare and review financial statements in accordance with ASPE and applicable Canadian statutory requirements. \n\nEnsure consistency and integrity of financial data across entities, business units, and reporting systems. \n\nLead year‑end audit processes and act as the primary liaison with external auditors. \n\nAccounting Operations \n\nManage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, revenue recognition, AP/AR oversight, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. \n\nEnsure appropriate accounting treatment for new product lines, services, and business initiatives. \n\nReview complex accounting judgments and estimates, ensuring appropriate documentation and governance. \n\nTreasury & Cash Flow Management \n\nOversee daily and medium-term cash management, including cash positioning, forecasting, and liquidity planning. \n\nDevelop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts to support operational and strategic decision-making. \n\nOptimize working capital through effective management of receivables, payables, inventory, and billing cycles. \n\nManage banking relationships, credit facilities, and covenant compliance. \n\nSupport capital allocation decisions, funding requirements, and scenario analysis related to liquidity and cash risk. \n\nEstablish controls and processes to safeguard cash, ensure appropriate authorization, and reduce treasury related risk. \n\nInternal Controls & Risk Management \n\nEstablish, maintain, and continuously improve a strong internal control environment. \n\nDevelop and maintain accounting and treasury policies, procedures, and documentation. \n\nIdentify financial, liquidity, and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies in collaboration with Finance leadership. \n\nSupport compliance with legislative, regulatory, and contractual financial requirements. \n\nERP & Process Optimization \n\nPlay a leadership role in ERP implementation, stabilization, and ongoing optimization of finance and treasury processes. \n\nDrive standardization, automation, and efficiency improvements across accounting, reporting, and cash management workflows. \n\nPartner with cross-functional teams to improve data quality, reporting, and process integration. \n\nLeadership & Team Development \n\nLead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth. \n\nProvide coaching and technical guidance on accounting standards, internal controls, and best practices. \n\nSupport training initiatives related to ERP, accounting policies, treasury processes, and financial discipline. \n\nBusiness Support & Collaboration \n\nPartner with the VP Finance and senior leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. \n\nParticipate in financial and commercial reviews of contracts and agreements, with a focus on cash flow, risk, and margin impact. \n\nProvide financial insight and decision support to operational and executive stakeholders. \n\nSupport ad‑hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives as required. \n\nQualifications \n\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field \n\nCPA designation (required) \n\n5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, assurance, controllership, or treasury related roles \n\nStrong knowledge of ASPE and Canadian statutory reporting requirements \n\nDemonstrated experience managing cash flow, liquidity, and working capital \n\nProven experience leading month end and yearend close processes \n\nExperience designing or operating internal control frameworks \n\nStrong understanding of ERP systems and relational databases;
