For this role we are particularly interested in candidates who combine technology with a legal or data protection background and who bring knowledge of EU and German regulatory requirements in the field of data security and privacy.\nIn line with our Flexible Work approach, for roles at Microsoft Germany, we recommend spending at least two days per week in the office or at the customer site.\nResponsibilities\nAs a Data Security Solution Engineer, your primary goal is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use our range of data security-focused solutions including Microsoft Purview and adjacent technologies.\nYou will work within a virtual team of technical, partner and consulting resources to educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision, allowing the team to achieve/exceed quarterly Microsoft Security sales/usage targets in your accounts. Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based security solutions, architectures, programs, and technologies.\nKey Responsibilities\nCoordinate with sellers and manager to understand opportunities, compete scenarios and engagements to focus on, engaging and driving to own and win the technical decisions\nAdvise customers on how Microsoft Purview and adjacent technologies help them meet EU and German regulatory obligations (e.g. GDPR/DSGVO, BDSG, NIS2, DORA, EU AI Act), and translate legal and compliance requirements into technical controls, policies and architectures - working closely with customers' legal, data protection and compliance stakeholders.\nRemediate blockers; lead and ensure technical wins for Microsoft Purview Data Security and adjacent technologies. Engage with and reache out to customers proactively and independently; build credibility with customers as a trusted advisor for Microsoft Purview Data Security; search for and use Microsoft customer references; and drive customer intent to consume and drives handoff to customer success for post sales deployment.\nDevelop strategies and recommendations to improve the client's data security posture, shape technical win plan and tailor Microsoft messaging to audience for security opportunities. Enhance team capabilities for cloud native data security patterns and architectures; develop differentiated compete strategies for assigned customers.\nLead technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, architecture design sessions; explain, demonstrate, and architect the solution to help solve customer data security challenges and priorities.\nDemonstrate and oversee proof of concepts, present and apply architecture patterns, prove capabilities and integration into customer environment, and drive cross-workload support for Microsoft solutions for data security. Leverage insights and coach teams to align new or changing technology to customer needs.\nEngage with other teams within and outside the organization throughout the sales cycle. Engaging partners in sell-with scenarios and supporting their technical capabilities is key to scaling solution delivery.\nShare knowledge and learnings with partners to drive the sale, deployment, and adoption of Microsoft solutions.\nQualifications\nRequired/Minimum Qualifications\nSignificant technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience\nOR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND proven technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience\nOR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND demonstrable technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience\nOR Law degree (Jura, LL.B./LL.M., First or Second State Examination) or comparable legal qualification, and/or proven professional experience as a lawyer, legal counsel, data protection officer, or in a regulatory/privacy advisory role\nProficiency in both spoken and written communication in English and German (at least C1-level)\nDemonstrable knowledge of EU and German regulatory frameworks relevant to data security and privacy (e.g. GDPR/DSGVO, BDSG, NIS2, DORA, EU AI Act, EU Data Act) and/or hands-on experience in data privacy, with the ability to translate legal requirements into technical requirements\nAdditional or Preferred Qualifications\nExperience in Cybersecurity\nProven experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.\nCertification in relevant technologies or disciplines (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Architect and Development exams, Cloud Platform Technologies, Information Security, Architecture).\nPractical experience in data privacy/data protection, e.g. as Data Protection Officer (DSB), privacy counsel, or in a privacy/compliance function.\nPrivacy or compliance certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent.\nSolution Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Germany is € 81,500.00 - € 139,200.00 per year.
