The role combines strategic modeling, executive storytelling, and deep business partnership to influence some of Microsoft's largest investment decisions.\nThis is an exceptional opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys solving complex business problems involving AI growth, cloud consumption, capacity planning, and long-range economics.\nResponsibilities\nConsumption Economics & Business Modeling\nOwn financial modeling of AI, Copilot, and cloud consumption businesses.\n\nDevelop and maintain end-to-end consumption economics frameworks linking product usage, revenue, COGS, margins, and infrastructure requirements.\n\nEvaluate economic implications of new products, pricing models , and monetization strategies.\n\nPartner with engineering and business leaders to understand key demand drivers and workload growth patterns.\n\nDatacenter Long-Range Planning (LRP)\nLead the financial planning process supporting datacenter and AI infrastructure investments.\n\nTranslate demand forecasts into infrastructure requirements and long-range capital needs.\n\nDevelop multi-year scenarios evaluating growth, utilization, margin, and return-on-investment outcomes.\n\nPartner with capacity planning teams to assess supply-demand balances and investment tradeoffs.\n\nScenario Planning\nBuild driver-based forecasting models for AI, cloud, and consumption workloads.\n\nDevelop best-case, base-case, and downside scenarios to support strategic decision making.\n\nAnalyze demand signals, usage trends, customer adoption patterns, and infrastructure constraints.\n\nExecutive Insights & Leadership Support\nPrepare executive reviews, business updates, and long-range planning presentations.\n\nPresent strategic recommendations to Finance and Engineering leadership.\n\nTranslate complex technical and operational topics into actionable financial insights.\n\nInfluence decisions through fact-based analysis and clear financial storytelling.\n\nQualifications\nRequired/minimum qualifications\nMaster's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.\nAdditional or preferred qualifications\nExperience leading teams and developing talent.\n\nExperience supporting cloud, AI, infrastructure, or technology businesses.\n\nDeep understanding of business economics, profitability analysis, and cost allocation methodologies.\n\nExperience working with large-scale data, reporting platforms, and financial automation.\n\nAbility to connect technical, operational, and financial drivers into clear business insights.\n\nExperience operating effectively in highly ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.\n\nFinancial Analysis IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.\nCertain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
