Our work is guided by the principles of responsible AI, collaboration, and scientific excellence, and we collaborate widely across systems, the sciences, and human-centred AI.\nWe are seeking PhD interns to work with our researchers on ambitious, well-scoped research projects in areas including memory, reasoning and control, efficient training and inference, and machine learning theory. Internships are typically 12 weeks and based in Cambridge, UK. We offer a vibrant research environment with unique opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and teams.\nContract Type: Internship \nContract Length: 12 Weeks \nLocation: Cambridge, UK \nResponsibilities\nContribute to an ambitious research agenda in machine learning that lays the groundwork for advances across a wide range of scientific and technological domains.\nCollaborate with a team of world-class researchers to explore and solve fundamental problems in ML.\nFormulate and evaluate research hypotheses, analyse experimental results, and conduct careful empirical studies.\nPrepare technical reports, papers, presentations, and, where appropriate, open-source releases of research code.\nQualifications\nRequired/Minimum Qualifications:\nCurrently enrolled in a PhD programme in a relevant field (e.g. Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics).\nOne or more publications at a top-tier venue in machine learning or related area.\nAbility to clearly communicate research ideas and results to a diverse audience.\nPreferred/Additional Qualifications:\nStrong ML coding and engineering skills.\nResearch experience in one or more of the following: Reasoning, planning and control in language models and agents\nMemory, continual learning and long-horizon adaptation\nAgents for scientific discovery\nTool use, program synthesis and verification\nEfficient model training and inference\nGenerative and probabilistic modelling\nTheoretical foundations of deep learning\nInterpretability, AI safety and alignment\nCausal representation learning and model-based reasoning\nNeuromorphic algorithms/brain-inspired architectures\n\nThe base pay for this internship is £ 4,853.00 per month.
