To achieve this goal, the Firmware Center of Excellence team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for Microsoft cloud hardware across innovation, quality, time to market, scale, and sustainability. We are looking for a Principal Firmware UEFI Engineer with a passion for customer-focused solutions and deep industry knowledge to envision and implement technical solutions that manage and optimize cloud infrastructure.\n#SCHIE\nResponsibilities\nLead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of cloud-scale UEFI firmware and RAS solutions.\nOwn UEFI firmware development and integration, including platform enablement, feature implementation, validation, and system-level debugging.\nCollaborate with hardware and software teams to define and deliver scalable, reliable, and serviceable solutions for cloud-scale workloads.\nDrive projects from requirements through production readiness, managing technical dependencies, risks, schedules, and cross-functional deliverables.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship, driving issue resolution and ensuring firmware solutions meet quality, reliability, security, and business requirements.\nEmbody our culture and values.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, assembly x86/ARM ISA.\nProfessional working proficiency in English (written and verbal) for effective technical communication with global stakeholders.\nOther Requirements:\nThe ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Optoelectronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or another relevant engineering or technical field is preferred. \n7+ years of professional experience designing and developing firmware and software solutions to improve system reliability, availability and serviceability.\nTechnical Leader in Industry with experience in Enterprise/Cloud Server hardware architecture, understanding of HW/FW/OS interactions, expertise in Server, GPU features architecture/integration\nExperienced in leading debugging complex system level issues and providing recommendations on potential fixes/tradeoffs to meet the business needs.\nDemonstrated skills in C (programming) Experience managing complex partner engagement and leading engineering collaboration\nHigh tolerance to ambiguity and ability make progress when situations are in flux. \nExperience in big data mining, familiar with Hadoop/Spark, is a plus.\nProven track record in technical leadership, system architecture, and mentoring engineering talent.\nThis position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.\nMicrosoft is an equal opportunity employer.
