To achieve this goal, the Silicon and Manufacturing Packaging Engineering (SMPE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for experienced engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.\nWe are looking for a Principal Manager, System Level Test & Manufacturing Engineering to join the team.\n#SCHIE #CSME #SMPE\nResponsibilities\nLead the Penang SLT organization responsible for test strategy, test-content integration, System-to-ATE execution, high-volume manufacturing, diagnostics and quality learning across Microsoft's custom silicon products.\n1. High-Volume Manufacturing & OSAT Execution\nLead SLT production readiness and execution at OSAT partners, including capacity, equipment, platform stability, test time, yield and operational readiness.\nEstablish manufacturing health metrics and drive performance against yield, quality, capacity, cycle-time and cost targets.\nLead cross-functional resolution of production excursions and systemic manufacturing issues.\nDrive continuous improvement of SLT effectiveness, stability and scalability across manufacturing sites.\n2. System-to-ATE Correlation & Execution\nEngage in System-to-ATE (S2ATE) execution, establishing correlation between system/SLT behavior and manufacturing ATE results.\nIdentify gaps between system-level failures and ATE/SLT coverage, and drive improvements in manufacturing test methodology and content.\nPartner with Product Engineering and Test Engineering to translate system-level learning into ATE and SLT screening improvements.\nUse system, SLT, ATE, RMA and fleet data to continuously improve outgoing quality and reduce manufacturing escapes.\n3. Quality, Diagnostics & RMA Learning\nLead system-level failure triage and diagnostics across silicon, package, hardware, firmware and software boundaries.\nDrive RMA learning back into manufacturing test coverage and screening strategies.\nEstablish scalable diagnostic methodologies to accelerate failure isolation and disposition.\nPartner with quality, system integration and product engineering teams to identify and close manufacturing test escapes.\n4. People & Organizational Leadership\nLead, coach and develop a high-performing team of SLT and product engineers.\nBuild technical depth and succession across SLT development, diagnostics, data analytics, characterization, RMA and manufacturing execution.\nDefine clear technical ownership and accountability across products and manufacturing partners.\nAttract, develop and retain engineering talent while building a culture of collaboration, technical excellence and continuous learning.\nBalance resources and priorities across multiple silicon programs, product ramps and production priorities.\n5. Cross-Functional Leadership\nServe as the APAC based SLT leadership interface across Silicon Engineering, Product Engineering, System Validation, Firmware, Manufacturing Quality, Supply Chain and external manufacturing partners.\nDrive alignment and decision-making across organizations where issues span traditional functional boundaries.\nCommunicate SLT manufacturing health, quality risks, technical gaps and recovery plans to engineering and manufacturing leadership.\nInfluence silicon and system design teams to incorporate design-for-test, design-for-debug and manufacturing learnings into future products.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline.\n10+ years of semiconductor product/test/validation engineering experience, including significant experience with system-level test, product engineering or high-volume manufacturing.\n10+ years of technical or people leadership experience, leading engineering teams or major cross-functional silicon/manufacturing programs.\nDemonstrated experience taking complex silicon products through first-silicon bring-up, NPI, qualification, production ramp and high-volume manufacturing.\nExperience with high-performance silicon such as CPU, GPU, AI accelerator or complex SoC products, including system-level validation/test and manufacturing screening.\nPreferred Qualifications\nDemonstrate knowledge of SLT architecture, test content, diagnostics, telemetry, automation and production infrastructure.\nExperience managing SLT or product-test execution at OSAT/high-volume semiconductor manufacturing partners.\nStrong understanding of ATE, SLT and system-level correlation and manufacturing test coverage.\nKnowledge of advanced SoC technologies such as PCIe, CXL, UCIe, SerDes, DDR/HBM, ARM processors, NoC/mesh and security.\nExperience using production and fleet/RMA data to identify test coverage gaps and drive manufacturing improvements.\nFamiliarity with Python, C/C++ or equivalent languages for test, diagnostics, automation and data analysis.\nDemonstrated ability to lead complex technical issues involving multiple engineering organizations and external suppliers.\nStrong communication and executive presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear risk, impact, decision and action.\nScreening Requirements\nAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
