Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.\nIn alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.\nResponsibilities\nLead a team of software engineers, hiring, growing, and upskilling their talent\n\nReview the design and code artifacts that make up large-scale distributed cloud services and solutions with a focus on high availability, scalability, robustness, and observability.\n\nLead project development across the organization and work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to drive development and release plans.\n\nEnsure systems owned by the team meet business requirements and service KPIs.\n\nTake end-to-end responsibility for the development lifecycle and production readiness of the services the team builds and drive the team’s DevOps culture.\n\nEnsure the team follows best practices of modern software engineering through code and design reviews and take effective service decisions based on data and telemetry.\n\nUnderstand Microsoft businesses and collaborate with stakeholders towards cohesive, end-to-end experiences for Microsoft customers.\n\nEmbrace a growth mindset and stay up to date with the current and state-of-the-art technologies to improve customer experience and better serve the product’s business needs.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.\n\nOther Requirements:\nAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:\nMicrosoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python\n\nOR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python\n\nOR equivalent experience.\n\n5+ years of directly managing software engineersbuilding backend services, cloud infrastructure, or platforms\n\n5+ years technical engineering experience designing and delivering highly available, large-scale cloud services and distributed systems.\n\n4+ years of technical engineering experience with machine learning model infrastructure, hosting, and operations.\n\nAbility to navigate the company and influence and inspire peers in engineering and broad product development.\n\nDemonstrate depth of knowledge and understanding of software architecture, design tradeoffs, and practices of mature DevOps culture.\n\nThe track recordof pursuing and delivering innovative insights that translate to value generation.\n\nSoftware Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.\nCertain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
