Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.\nResponsibilities\nConduct research in one or more of the following areas: Classical DSP or ML-based algorithms for audio signal processing (audio bandwidth extension, speech enhancement, echo cancellation, source localization, speaker recognition, etc.)\nDesign and implement experiments to test new hypotheses and validate research findings. \nDevelop and optimise algorithms and models for various applications. \nCollaborate with team members to integrate research outcomes into practical solutions. \nPresent research findings to the team and contribute to publications and patents. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nCurrently enrolled in a PhD program in audio signal processing, acoustics, machine learning, or a related field, with research experience in areas such as speech enhancement, audio bandwidth extension, speaker recognition, source localization, or related audio technologies.\nDemonstrated knowledge or research experience in at least one of the following areas:Classical signal processing theory and algorithms, such as adaptive filtering, detection, or estimation.\nMachine learning or AI approaches applied to audio signal processing.\nMicrophone and/or array signal processing.\nMultimodal signal processing, such as audio-visual processing.Numerical linear algebra.\nDevelopment, evaluation, or implementation of signal processing or machine learning algorithms.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nAbility to clearly communicate previous research or technical work, including the problem addressed, its significance, and the approach taken.\nExperience working on open-ended research problems and identifying appropriate technical approaches where requirements or solutions may not be fully defined.\nExperience developing, training, or evaluating neural network architectures for audio or audio-visual applications, such as speech enhancement, speaker recognition, echo cancellation, source localization, audio-visual speaker diarization, or active speaker detection.\nFamiliarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.\nProficiency in Python and/or MATLAB.\nThis position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.\nMicrosoft is an equal opportunity employer.
