To achieve this, the SCHIE Product and Procurement Optimization (SPPO) team plays a key role in defining and implementing portfolio optimization processes and controls that enable effective management and delivery of silicon hardware development, including fleet hardware for Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure.\nThe SPPO (SCHIE Product and Procurement Optimization) team is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer, Technical Program Manager to drive complex hardware initiatives. This role requires a strong background in hardware product development, including silicon and platform design, combined with strategic thinking, business acumen, and a bias for action. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, builds strong partnerships across senior leaders and engineering teams, and brings proven experience collaborating with hardware and software engineers. Expertise in technical program management, engineering process optimization and the ability to execute with precision in an evolving environment are essential.\n#SCHIE #Azure\nResponsibilities\nDrive strategic hardware and silicon development programs and portfolio optimization by defining scope, goals, success metrics, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.\nDrive portfolio assessments and investment tradeoff decisions by evaluating resource needs, dependencies, execution risks and priorities.\nPartner with engineering leaders to turn product roadmaps into actionable spend forecasts and fully funded operating plans.\nCollaborate across engineering, sourcing, supply chain, procurement and finance to deliver strategic initiatives and optimize the portfolio.\nDeliver program status reviews on risks, opportunities and performance metrics, and create high-impact communications for leadership and organization-wide audiences\nIdentify efficiency opportunities across outsourced development, EDA tools, IP, emulation, compute, labs, prototypes, and silicon and platform development to improve return on investment and engineering productivity.\nManage OPEX and CAPEX spend and procurement processes to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting and cost control.\nLead Lean and Six Sigma process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.\nBuild and maintain real-time Power BI dashboards and use AI to improve program insights and decision-making.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications:\nMaster's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience \nOR equivalent experience \n\nPreferred qualifications:\nDoctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience \nOR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience \nOR equivalent experience\n\n5+ years of experience in implementing engineering processes, driving continuous improvement to deliver operational efficiency\nPresentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (Senior Executives, Management Team, etc.) \nAdvanced proficiency in Excel and Power BI with strong data analysis capabilities and the ability to translate complex data into clear, business-relevant insights.\nExperience with Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.\nAdvanced Proficiency in KPI tracking, real-time dashboards, and Power BI for data visualization and reporting, ensuring adherence to data standards.\nDemonstrated ability to leverage data, AI, Copilot, and agentic AI capabilities to drive operational efficiency. Experience driving AI adoption and scaling AI-powered workflows across organizations.\nWorking knowledge of CAPEX, OPEX, COGS, capitalization, depreciation, accruals, and financial controls.\nStrong capability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize strategic and tactical options, and drive issues to closure with high quality.\nAdvanced data analysis skills to translate complex data into clear, business-relevant insights that drive decision-making.\nAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.\nHardware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
