Success in this role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, cloud-native architecture experience, technical leadership, and a deep curiosity for applying AI to solve business problems at scale.\nResponsibilities\nEngineering & Architecture\nDesign, develop, and operate highly scalable, secure, and resilient cloud services, platforms, and applications running on Microsoft Azure.\n\nLead architecture and technical design discussions for large-scale distributed systems and AI-powered business solutions.\n\nDefine technical direction and establish engineering patterns, standards, and best practices across services and platforms.\n\nDrive end-to-end delivery from design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and long-term operations.\n\nAI-Native Engineering\nDesign and build AI-powered applications, copilots, agents, and intelligent workflows that transform business processes and customer experiences.\n\nApply large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, agent orchestration, and evaluation frameworks to solve real-world business challenges.\n\nLeverage AI-native engineering practices including specification-driven development, agent-assisted coding, automated evaluations, and AI-enabled software lifecycle workflows.\n\nPartner with Applied Scientists and Data Science teams to operationalize AI solutions in production.\n\nData & Analytics\nArchitect and build modern data platforms leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, ADLS Gen2, and related Azure services.\n\nDrive unified data models, semantic models, and AI-ready data foundations that enable trusted enterprise insights.\n\nEnsure strong governance, security, lineage, observability, and data quality across analytical and AI workloads.\n\nEnable self-service analytics and next-generation reporting experiences through semantic models and intelligent insights.\n\nEngineering Excellence\nDevelop clean, maintainable, secure, and well-tested code using technologies such as C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern cloud services.\n\nLead code reviews and mentor engineers to raise engineering quality across the team.\n\nDrive automation, CI/CD maturity, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.\n\nParticipate in live-site operations, incident response, and continuous service improvements.\n\nLeadership & Collaboration\nProvide technical leadership across multiple projects and influence engineering decisions beyond immediate team boundaries.\n\nPartner closely with product managers, architects, business stakeholders, and customer-facing teams to identify opportunities for innovation and impact.\n\nMentor early-career engineers and contribute to the growth of an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture.\n\nChampion AI adoption and help shape CEAI's AI-native engineering transformation.\n\nQualifications\nBasic / Required Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field AND 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, OR equivalent practical experience.\n\n5+ years of experience designing and building scalable cloud-native applications and services.\n\nStrong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages including C#, Python, or TypeScript.\n\nExperience building and operating services on Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.\n\nProven experience driving technical design, implementation, deployment, and live-site operations for production systems.\n\nExperience working with distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and large-scale data platforms.\n\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.\n\nDemonstrated growth mindset and passion for continuous learning.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience building AI-native solutions including copilots, agents, retrieval systems, LLM applications, and autonomous workflows.\n\nExperience with Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI services, Semantic Kernel, LangChain, MCP, or comparable AI orchestration frameworks.\n\nExperience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Lakehouse architectures, Power BI semantic models, and enterprise analytics platforms.\n\nExperience implementing agentic workflows, AI-assisted SDLC practices, and AI-enabled engineering productivity solutions.\n\nFamiliarity with Responsible AI, model evaluation, AI governance, security, and compliance frameworks.\n\nExperience building enterprise-grade SaaS applications serving large-scale global customers.\n\nExperience leading cross-team engineering initiatives and influencing technical direction across organizations.\n\nPassion for advancing AI-native engineering and transforming how software is designed, built, and operated.\n\nThis position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.\nMicrosoft is an equal opportunity employer.
