You will collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to solve complex backend and distributed-systems problems in a strategically important area of Microsoft Cloud.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the design and delivery of complex software components and services within Azure infrastructure, driving work from requirements through production.\n\nCollaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements, identifydependencies, evaluate trade-offs, and develop scalable technical designs.\n\nDesign, implement, optimize, and maintainsecure, reliable, and scalable solutions for complex distributed-system scenarios.\n\nUse telemetry, diagnostics, testing, and operational insights to improve reliability and prevent productionincidents.\n\nLead incident response and retrospectives, driving systemic corrective actions across components and services.\n\nProvide technical leadership through design reviews, high-quality code reviews, mentoring, and guidance for other engineers.\n\nDrive improvements in engineering systems, automation, deployment safety, observability, and operational excellence.\n\nAct as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) during on-call rotations, coordinating responses to complex production issues, communicating status to stakeholders, restoring service, and driving follow-up improvements.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Scienceor a related technical field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, C++, Go, Java, Kotlin, or Python.\n\nOR equivalent experience.\nStrong backend software engineering skills, including designing, implementing, testing, and operating production services.\n\nExperience designing and developing scalable distributed systems.\n\nStrong software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications/ Ideal candidate\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Scienceor a related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, C++, Go, Java, Kotlin, or Python.\n\nOR Master's Degree in Computer Scienceor a related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience coding in those languages.\n\nOR equivalent experience.\n\nExperience developing distributed systems and services in scalable cloud environments.\n\nExperience owning and operating production services, including monitoring, incident response, reliability improvements, and operational readiness.\n\nExperience with datacenter infrastructure, hardware lifecycle management, or large-scale resource orchestration.\n\nExperience providing technical leadership through architecture and design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring engineers.\n\nDemonstrated commitment to software quality, security, performance, maintainability, automation, and operational excellence.\n\nOther Requirements\nAbility to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
