Our portfolio includes SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, supporting developers as they build AI native applications and run critical workloads at global scale.\nWe are hiring a Software Engineer to join the Azure Cosmos DB Gateway team, where you will work on the critical front-end data plane that powers one of the largest globally distributed database services in the world.\nThe Gateway sits on the request path between customers and Azure Cosmos DB, processing trillions of requests every day across hundreds of clusters worldwide. Our team owns the scalability, availability, performance, and operational excellence of this infrastructure and is building the next generation of the Cosmos DB Gateway to significantly increase throughput, reduce latency, improve resiliency, and lower infrastructure cost.\nWe do not just value differences or different perspectives. As a result, our customers are better served.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and build highly available, high-performance distributed systems that operate at massive scale.\nWork on building infrastructure for Cosmos DB gateway applications.\nWork on request routing, connection management, networking, caching, load balancing, resource management, service reliability, and performance optimization for Cosmos DB workloads running in gateway mode.\nDive deep into Azure technologies and distributed database systems.\nCollaborate with partners, internal and external to Azure Cosmos DB organization, to design and build features that drive service growth.\nInfluence and create new designs, architectures, standards and methods for large-scale distributed systems.\nBuild reusable libraries of services practices for other teams to leverage.\nWork in a culture of continuous improvement, adaptation, reflection, and growth.\nOther:\nEmbody our Culture and Values\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.\n\nOther Job Requirements:\nAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.\nCertain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
