This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and build highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend and distributed data systems that support large-scale processing and business-critical scenarios. \nDrive technical architecture and design, identify system dependencies, and influence engineering direction across backend services, data platforms, storage, and processing systems. \nPartner with stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams to translate product and data requirements into scalable technical designs and integration strategies. \nDevelop, debug, optimize, and evolve production systems to improve throughput, latency, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency. \nDrive performance and cost optimization across backend services, distributed data platforms, storage systems, and high-volume data pipelines. \nProactively improve live-site reliability through better monitoring, observability, capacity planning, fault tolerance, performance, and operational practices. \nLead complex technical investigations and production incidents, coordinating effectively across engineering teams and stakeholders. \nMentor engineers, promote engineering best practices, and raise technical excellence across software engineering and data engineering disciplines. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python\nOR equivalent experience.\n\nSolid computer science fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of software engineering principles. \n6+ years of software engineering experience, with a solid background in backend or full-stack development. \nExperience designing and building scalable distributed systems, high-throughput services, telemetry systems, and large-scale data processing solutions. \nExperience with cloud technologies, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures. \nExperience with data engineering, including large-scale data pipelines, data platforms, storage, or distributed data processing. \n#MicrosoftAI\nSoftware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
