Additionally, Azure Monitor is the platform upon which Microsoft Sentinel is built. We have a multi-billion dollar business that is growing rapidly, and we run some of the world’s highest scale observability services both for Microsoft internally and for our external customers, processing over 1.5 Exabytes of logs daily and tracking over 100 billion active metrics.\nWithin the Azure Monitor team, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and evolve the cloud-native infrastructure layer for Azure Monitor and other observability services. If you're passionate about driving meaningful impact, solving complex problems, and contributing to a growing organization, we would love to hear from you.\nResponsibilities\nLead design and code reviews across feature areas and participate in all stages of our engineering lifecycle (initial research and discovery, quick iteration on promising concepts, solution prototyping and development, deployment and live site support). \nDevelopers in the team are expected to wear multiple hats and demonstrate breadth, depth, and leadership. \nWork with multiple partner teams and deploy across all Azure regions. \nPassionate about distributed systems and planetary scale services. \nEnjoys the challenge of designing cloud infrastructure platform components built on Kubernetes, with a focus on reliability, security, networking, diagnosability, and global-scale cost efficiency. \nExcels at identifying bottlenecks and engineering solutions for complex production systems end to end, from ambiguous problem definition and design tradeoffs through execution, launch, monitoring, and operational maturity. \nLead cross-organization alignment with adjacent infrastructure, observability, platform, and service teams to define clear ownership, unblock execution, and shape long-term investments. \nRaise the engineering bar through design reviews, operational reviews, architecture guidance, incident follow-through, and repeatable engineering standards. \nShape safe, reliable use of AI-agentic systems and AI-assisted operations for Kubernetes-based infrastructure at scale. \nEmbody our culture and values \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.\n\nOther Requirements:\nAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
