Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, build and ship Copilot Search features end to end in React and TypeScript, from design review and implementation through experimentation and worldwide rollout.\nBuild performant, accessible and localized user interfaces that work consistently across web, desktop and mobile hosts, as well as SharePoint and OneDrive.\nDrive web performance through server-side rendering, hydration and rendering optimization, early data fetching, service workers and bundle-size reduction, with a focus on end-to-end latency and time to first answer.\nIntegrate AI-generated answers into the search experience, including streaming responses, citations and source attribution, and graceful handling of partial or failed responses.\nInstrument features with telemetry, define success metrics, and run A/B experiments and staged rollouts to make data-driven product decisions.\nOwn the reliability of the features you build, including monitoring, alerting, automated health checks and diagnosis of client issues such as authentication and host-loading failures.\nParticipate in the team's on-call rotation, mitigating production incidents quickly and driving root-cause fixes so they do not recur.\nPartner closely with product managers, designers and backend search and relevance engineers to turn ambiguous ideas into polished, shippable experiences.\nRaise the engineering bar through thoughtful code reviews, automated testing and contributions to shared components and engineering practices.\nUse AI-assisted development tools and LLM-based techniques, such as automated analysis of user feedback and quality evaluation, to move faster and improve product quality.\nQualifications\nRequired/Minimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.OR equivalent experience.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nSolid experience building production web applications with React and TypeScript.\nSolid web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, browser rendering, web performance and server-side rendering.\nExperience building and operating large-scale web applications used by a broad customer base.\nExperience with telemetry, A/B experimentation and data-driven decision making.\nWorking knowledge of accessibility standards and building inclusive user interfaces.\nExperience building LLM or AI-powered product features, such as streaming experiences.\nExposure to mobile or cross-platform hosts, such as web experiences embedded in apps.\nExperience with live-site operations, monitoring and on-call responsibilities.\nFamiliarity with search or information retrieval concepts is a plus.\nSolid problem-solving and communication skills, and comfort collaborating across time zones.\nThis position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.\nMicrosoft is an equal opportunity employer.
