Each day, we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.\nResponsibilities\nWe are looking for a Software Engineer II to build software and improve workflows that make Microsoft Defender service deployments to Azure safer, more reliable, and less dependent on manual intervention. You will develop deployment automation and infrastructure tooling, collaborate directly with service engineers, and support your solutions in production.\nIn this role, you will:\nBuild and maintain deployment automation, Azure infrastructure tooling, and pipeline checks that make service deployments repeatable, reliable, and easier to operate.\nOwn engineering features through design, implementation, automated testing, rollout, and production support.\nPartner with Defender service teams to understand deployment dependencies, improve existing workflows, and integrate automation with clear ownership boundaries.\nWrite maintainable and secure code and participate in design and code reviews, including validation, error handling, and safe rollback or recovery.\nUse logs, telemetry, and incident findings to diagnose deployment failures and improve reliability, observability, and release quality.\nContribute to engineering efficiency across Defender by reducing repetitive deployment and operational work and developing reusable solutions for shared service needs.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.\nExperience implementing, testing, and debugging defined software features using maintainable code and sound engineering practices.\nExperience collaborating with engineering partners through design, integration, release, and production support.\nExperience owning component or subsystem design and delivery, including managing technical dependencies and integration with other teams.\nQualifications - Other Requirements\nAbility to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role.
