We are seeking anexperienced Engineer in Precision Mechanical Design to join our team in Orlando, Florida to play a critical role in bringing innovative LiDAR and electro-optical sensing products from concept to production.\nWhat You'll Do\nWorking alongside experts in optics, electrical engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing, and program management, you'll help solve complex technical challenges and shape products that define the future of perception technology.This role owns precision mechanical components and assemblies within highly integrated systems, translating system requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions that balance performance, cost, reliability, and quality, emphasizing hands-on design, documentation rigor, and tolerance control. You will provide technical leadership through architecture development, trade studies, design reviews, and engineering best practices to ensure successful product integration and execution. This includes:\nDriving concept development, trade studies, and design decisions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.\n\nDeveloping 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T documentation using SolidWorks.\n\nPerforming tolerance analyses and support critical design decisions related to form, fit, and function.\n\nOwning BOMs, configuration management, and engineering changes within a PLM environment.\n\nLeading ECR/ECO activities and evaluate cross-functional impacts to product performance and manufacturability.\n\nApplying structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve design, quality, and manufacturing challenges.\n\nDeveloping DFMEAs and proactively identify and mitigate product risks.\n\nChampioning Design-to-Cost, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nCollaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and program teams to ensure successful product development and launch.\n\nProviding technical leadership during design reviews and key product development milestones.\n\nSuccess in this role requires\nA Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.\n\n10+ years of experience developing precision or complex hardware products.\n\nStrong expertise in mechanical design, GD&T, and SolidWorks.\n\nProven experience owning products or subsystems from concept through production release.\n\nExperience designing components for machining, injection molding, die casting, and metal injection molding (MIM).\n\nExperience managing BOMs, configuration control, and engineering change processes in a PLM system (Arena preferred).\n\nHands-on experience with tolerance analysis, DFMEAs, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D.\n\nKnowledge of Design-to-Cost and value engineering practices.\n\nStrong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary engineering teams.\n\nOur ideal candidate will also have\nExperience serving as a technical lead, subsystem owner, or mechanical lead engineer.\n\nBackground in electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical, or precision optical systems.\n\nExperience supporting products through development, validation, and production launch.\n\nExperience working directly with suppliers to optimize design, manufacturability, and cost.\n\nExperience in automotive, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries.\n\nMicroVision offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and professional growth of our employees.
