The analyst collects, analyzes, and communicates institutional data; supports federal and external reporting; conducts survey research; and develops clear, accurate, and actionable reports for internal and external audiences.\nThis is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $67,120 - $75,522 per year. This role is based onsite in Middlebury, VT but does permit partial remote work each week.\nCore Responsibilities\nCollect, extract, organize, and prepare data from a variety of institutional and external sources for reporting and analytical projects. Merge, standardize, clean, and validate data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness. \nAnalyze and interpret institutional data to identify trends, patterns, and key insights. Apply appropriate analytical and statistical techniques; develop effective tables, charts, and other data visualizations; and assistwith creating a summary that communicates findings clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise. \nAssist with external reporting requirements, including standard federal and external reports such as the Common Data Set (CDS) and IPEDS. Ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, and completed within established deadlines. \nPrepare recurring and ad hoc reports on enrollment, degrees awarded, student outcomes, and other institutional topics for internal and external audiences. Complete requests for data in a timely manner while ensuring appropriate attention to data quality and confidentiality. \nMaintain institutional performance indicators and comparative data, including benchmarking and peer-institution information, and provide regular updates and analyses for the Assessment and Institutional Research team. \nDesign, develop, administer, and analyze surveys in collaboration with members of the Assessment and Institutional Research team and campus partners. Support survey projects from question development and data collection through analysis and reporting. \nCommunicate project status, findings, and recommendations to members of the Assessment and Institutional Research team. Present information effectively through written reports, presentations, dashboards, and other appropriate formats. \nRequirements\nBachelor's degree required, preferably in a quantitative related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in institutional research, data analysis, assessment, or a related area. \nStrong data management and analytical skills, including experience cleaning, standardizing, filtering, transforming, merging, and validating data to create reliable datasets for analysis and reporting. \nStrong quantitative reasoning and statistical skills, with the ability to select and apply appropriate analytical approaches to a variety of institutional research questions. \nExcellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible insights for audiences with varying levels of data literacy. \nAbility to use data to tell a story, identify meaningful trends, patterns, relationships, and key findings within large or complex datasets and translating those findings into actionable insights. \nStrong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple, competing, and changing priorities while meeting firm deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. \nCommitment to data quality and accuracy, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and analyses in a fast-paced environment where precision and timeliness are essential. \nIntellectual curiosity and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify meaningful changes and patterns over time, ask thoughtful questions about data, and determine effective approaches to new or ambiguous analytical challenges. \nOther:\nAn offer for this position is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and references.\nBenefits\nAs an employee of Middlebury College in Vermont, you will enjoy being part of a vibrant supportive community.\nMiddlebury offers its employees excellent compensation and competitive health, dental, life, disability, generous retirement matching, and vision benefits, and a generous time-away program - up to 34 days per year, increasing as the term of service lengthens.
