The University seeks nationally certified AGPCNPs with current clinical expertise and a commitment to preparing competent, practice-ready nurse practitioners.\nThis primarily remote role is responsible for delivering assigned didactic instruction, evaluating student learning, and supporting students’ development of advanced nursing knowledge and clinical reasoning. The faculty member collaborates with program leadership and other faculty to ensure that instruction aligns with course objectives, program outcomes, and evidence-based, patient-centered primary care across the adult-gerontology population. Occasional on-campus participation may be required based on course assignments and program needs.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nPrepare and deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction in assigned graduate nursing courses through classroom, online, or hybrid formats, as designated by the program.\nTeach content appropriate to AGPCNP preparation, including advanced assessment, diagnostic reasoning, management of acute and chronic conditions, pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment, health promotion, disease prevention, and care coordination.\nIncorporate the primary care needs of adolescents, adults, and older adults into assigned instruction, consistent with course objectives and the AGPCNP population focus.\nDevelop or update assigned instructional materials, learning activities, case studies, and assessments in collaboration with the course coordinator and program leadership.\nUse teaching strategies that promote critical thinking, clinical reasoning, application of evidence, and readiness for entry into AGPCNP practice.\nEvaluate student learning using examinations, written assignments, case analyses, presentations, discussions, and other assessments appropriate to the course.\nProvide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student performance and grades.\nMaintain regular availability for student questions, academic support, and scheduled office hours appropriate to the teaching assignment.\nIdentify students experiencing academic difficulty and communicate concerns promptly to the course coordinator or designated program personnel.\nParticipate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic remediation plans, as assigned.\nMaintain instructional content that reflects current evidence, clinical guidelines, professional standards, and AGPCNP scope of practice.\nCollaborate with faculty to support consistency across course sections and alignment between didactic instruction and clinical learning expectations.\nContribute to course evaluation and continuous quality improvement through review of student feedback, assessment results, and achievement of learning outcomes.\nParticipate in faculty orientation, course planning, and program meetings relevant to the assignment.\nFollow institutional policies and applicable professional and accreditation requirements, including expectations for academic integrity, accessibility, confidentiality, and fair student evaluation.\nMaintain current clinical knowledge, national AGPCNP certification, and required professional licensure.\nRequired Qualifications\nEarned graduate degree in nursing (MSN or higher) with preparation as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.\nCurrent national certification as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) in Arizona.\nCurrent, unencumbered RN license and APRN licensure or authorization to practice in Arizona, with the ability to obtain and maintain licensure required by the University for the assignment.\nMinimum of two years of clinical practice experience as a nurse practitioner in adult-gerontology primary care or a closely related primary care setting.\nCurrent or recent clinical practice experience demonstrating expertise in evidence-based care of the adult-gerontology population.\nAbility to teach graduate nursing content, assess student learning, and provide clear, actionable feedback.\nAbility to use instructional technology and communicate effectively in classroom and online learning environments.\nAbility to meet institutional faculty appointment requirements and applicable qualifications for assigned courses.\nPreferred Qualifications\nEarned doctoral degree in nursing or a related field, such as a DNP, PhD, or EdD.\nPrior didactic teaching experience in a graduate nursing or nurse practitioner program.\nExperience with course development, curriculum design, examination development, or evaluation of student learning.\nExperience using case-based learning, active learning, simulation, or other strategies that strengthen clinical reasoning.\nPrior experience as an NP preceptor or clinical faculty member.\nExperience caring for diverse patient populations, rural communities, or medically underserved populations.\nFamiliarity with learning management systems, virtual teaching platforms, and electronic assessment tools.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nStrong knowledge of AGPCNP scope of practice, primary care standards, and population-specific competencies.\nAbility to translate clinical expertise and current evidence into clear, engaging graduate-level instruction.\nAbility to teach and assess diagnostic reasoning, patient management, safe prescribing, and professional accountability.\nEffective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.\nAbility to create an inclusive learning environment and support students with varied backgrounds and learning needs.\nStrong organizational skills and the ability to meet instructional, grading, and communication deadlines.\nAbility to recognize academic performance concerns and contribute to appropriate student support and remediation.\nCommitment to fair and consistent evaluation, academic integrity, student development, and continuous quality improvement.\nWork Environment and Schedule\nThis is a part-time adjunct position. Teaching assignments vary by academic term, course availability, student enrollment, and program needs. Responsibilities may include online or hybrid instruction; course preparation; student assessment and grading; office hours; and scheduled meetings with faculty and program personnel.
