The Senior Developer will deliver BAU fixes and client-driven enhancements, investigate complex application and production issues, and contribute to technical design and continuous improvement while following the agreed SDLC and engineering standards.\nThe role works closely with Business Analysts, Technical Consultants, Test Analysts and other Developers, and reports to the Manager in India.\nGarradin is a financial services product supporting funds administration and taxation for approximately 12 customers across Australia and New Zealand.\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nDesign, develop and maintain robust, scalable solutions using Progress OpenEdge / ABL.\nDeliver BAU fixes, client enhancements and technical changes across a large, complex financial services product.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex software defects, production issues, application issues and technical environment problems.\nAnalyse root causes using logs, debugging, database investigation and application/runtime diagnostics, and implement sustainable fixes.\nWork with Business Analysts and Technical Consultants to understand requirements, identify technical impacts, prepare solution designs and provide development estimates for complex enhancements.\nDesign and maintain integrations and services using REST, JSON and XML, including services hosted on Progress Application Server for OpenEdge (PASOE).\nInvestigate and improve database and application performance, including query optimisation, indexing, transaction/locking behaviour and efficient data access.\nDevelop and maintain effective automated unit tests using ABLUnit and ensure adequate test coverage for software changes.\nWork with Test Automation and QA teams to support integration, regression and automated testing activities and to diagnose test failures.\nParticipate in peer/code reviews and proactively identify defects, maintainability issues, security concerns and opportunities for refactoring.\nFollow and contribute to development, coding, branching, release and quality standards across the Garradin codebase.\nUse team engineering tools and processes effectively, including Jira, Confluence, Subversion/SVN, Jenkins, Ant and related development/quality tools.\nContribute to CI/CD and release activities, including build troubleshooting, deployment support and investigation of environment-specific issues.\nProduce and maintain technical documentation, design notes, troubleshooting information and other project documentation.\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to other developers and collaborate effectively with distributed teams across India and Australia.\nContribute ideas that reduce technical debt, improve developer productivity, strengthen engineering practices and increase product quality.\nTake ownership of assigned work from analysis through implementation, testing, documentation and release, delivering within agreed estimates and timelines.\nActively adopts and champions AI-driven development practices, including advanced coding assistants, agentic workflows, and automation opportunities across the software lifecycle.\nUnleash your potential.\n- Technical\nStrong hands-on knowledge of Progress OpenEdge / ABL, preferably across OpenEdge 11.x and 12.x environments, including PDSOE.\nPractical experience using Progress Developer Studio for OpenEdge (PDSOE) for OpenEdge application development, debugging, project configuration and build/development workflows.\nExposure to modern development environments such as Visual Studio Code and AI-assisted developer tools such as Cursor for code navigation, analysis, refactoring, documentation and developer productivity is desirable.\nStrong ABL development skills including structured programming, object-oriented concepts, error handling, reusable components and maintainable coding practices.\nPractical experience with ADM2 / legacy Progress UI technologies and understanding of existing desktop application codebases.\nStrong experience with PASOE / Progress Application Server and service-based application architecture.\nHands-on experience developing or supporting REST services and working with JSON, XML and HTTP-based integrations.\nStrong database knowledge with practical experience in SQL/ABL queries, indexing, transaction processing, locking, data integrity and performance optimization.\nStrong debugging and production troubleshooting skills, including the ability to isolate applications, database, integration and environment-related issues.\nExperience with automated testing and unit testing frameworks, particularly ABLUnit; awareness of tools such as Test Complete is desirable.\nExperience with source control and build/release tooling such as SVN, Jenkins and Ant; familiarity with branching and release management practices.\nExperience with code-quality/static-analysis tools such as SonarLint/SonarQube is desirable.\nExperience supporting application environments involving web/application infrastructure such as Nginx and JBoss is desirable.\n- PersonalStrong ownership and accountability for technical outcomes, with the ability to take a problem from investigation through to a production-ready solution.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical designs, risks, trade-offs and production issues clearly.\nAbility to work effectively with Business Analysts, Technical Consultants, QA/Test Automation engineers and developers.\nAbility to mentor and support other developers and contribute positively to team capability and knowledge sharing\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to software quality, maintainability, testing and secure engineering practices.\nAdaptable and responsive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and production-critical issues in a professional manner.\nComfortable working with colleagues and stakeholders in Australia/India distributed-team environments.\nQualification & Experience\n\nB.E./B.Tech/MCA or equivalent technical qualification.\n5+ years of professional software development experience, with significant hands-on experience in Progress OpenEdge / ABL.\nExperience developing and supporting large or complex software products in a structured engineering environment.\nExperience working in medium to large development teams and collaborating effectively with distributed teams.\nExperience working with established SDLC, Agile/iterative development, code review, testing and release practices.\nExperience in financial services, wealth management, funds administration, taxation or another complex transactional domain is highly desirable.\nWorking at Bravura\n\nOur people are the heart of our business.
