You will lead protective system designs, physical layout designs, and calculations, as well as coordinate with other disciplines on substation projects.\nYour main responsibilities can include creating electrical protection & control and/or physical layout design deliverables for a range of Substation projects. Focus will be on the delivery of substation automation systems for our high voltage substation projects. Typical projects include working within multi-disciplinary teams to assist in developing efficient and reliable solutions for intricate substation projects. A key component of your role will be to act as the team’s quality lead on reviewing all design efforts to ensure it aligns with the client and Milhouse standards.\nWhat you will do:\nApply clients’ standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing design drawings as well as coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with all specifications, codes, and client requirements.\nDeliver the assigned projects on time, within budget and meet agreed scope.\nRegularly communicate and coordinate project activities with internal team members and build relationships with clients\nThe design and delivery of green and brown field high voltage electrical substation project.\nSupport the development of P&C one line diagram, AC/DC schematics, control panel layout and wiring diagram, station service AC/DC distribution diagram, bill of material, cable schedule, etc.\nLead all quality assurance efforts on behalf of the team\nManage project subordinates and/or other project/discipline resources to quality, schedule, and budget requirements.\nCreating and enforcing project quality plan.\nPrepare proposals, contract amendments, change order documentation, and claim documentation.\nAbility to consistently work independently and present high quality of work.\nLead project resource teams assigned to support projects.\nMaintain positive working relationships between the client and prime consultants.\nProvide documented scope, schedule, deliverables, and budgets.\nProvide progress reports, project milestones, scope changes, budget forecasting/analysis, and schedule updates to the team.\nMonitor cost accounting, invoicing, and closing out of projects.\nAbility to manage / lead several simultaneous projects.\nWork with team to ensure all required deliverables are prepared, submitted, and tracked.\nCoordinate with finance group to confirm invoicing and receiving payments on a timely basis.\nIn charge of QA/QC on assigned projects.\nProvide project status information to the Managers and team.\nAssist management as directed.\nAbility to roll up sleeves and support project execution as needed\nWho you are:\nFour-year bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution\n13 - 20 years of protection & control / substation design engineering experience\nP.E. required\nLocal utility agency experience preferred\nProject management experience preferred\nDistribution experience is a plus\nProven ability to consistently produce high quality of work\nAbility to consistently work independently\nAdvanced presentation, written, verbal communication skills\nKnowledge of applicable codes and standards\nFamiliar with discipline specific design software and design management systems\nFamiliar with Grounding Calculations\nMemberships and active participation in discipline specific professional organizations such as IEEE\nExperience with power system studies such as short circuit and coordination studies.\nExperience with preparing relay settings\nFamiliarity with applicable IEEE / EIC codes and standards\nUnderstanding of CAD software\nAbility to estimate, plan, and schedule substation projects\nAbility to support proposal activities\nProficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel as well as ACAD or MicroStation and Revit\nAt Milhouse, we’re more than just a place to work - we’re a place to grow, thrive, and be celebrated.
