Our team brings deep technical expertise and a commitment to excellence across every phase of design, inspection, and construction administration.\nPosition Overview\nWe’re looking for a Sr. Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team. In this role, you’ll support and lead a variety of structural projects, contributing to the design, analysis, and restoration of buildings across San Francisco. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver innovative and compliant structural solutions.\nWhat You’ll Do\nLead and support projects including façade restoration, seismic retrofit, historic preservation, forensic investigation, and interior alterations.\nConduct structural analysis and develop repair details for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood buildings.\nPrepare and coordinate project documentation including drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.\nParticipate in all project phases: investigation, budgeting, design, bidding, filing, construction administration, and closeout.\nPerform site inspections from various elevations including scaffolding and lifts (25-50% fieldwork).\nCollaborate with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure project success.\nMaintain compliance with building codes and navigate regulatory processes.\nCreate and modify drawings using AutoCAD.\nWrite and present clear, technical reports and correspondence.\nEnforce quality control and troubleshoot project specific challenges.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nRequired:\n6+ years of experience in structural engineering with seismic experience.\nState of CA PE license.\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural focus/concentration preferred).\nKnowledge and experience of CA building codes.\nMust be comfortable working at heights and from suspended scaffold rigs.\nProficiency in AutoCAD and structural analysis tools.\nStrong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.\nPreferred:\nExperience with historic preservation.\nExperience with performance-based engineering.\nFamiliarity with façade restoration and forensic investigation.\nWillingness to obtain any other required certifications.\nWork Environment & Schedule\nThis position is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid schedule.\nStandard working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM.\nTravel requirements: moderate fieldwork (25-50%).\nCompensation & Benefits\nSalary range: $145,000 - $165,000 based on knowledge, skills, and experience.\nComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, and 401K plan with match.\nPaid time off: Holiday, vacation, sick, personal, and birthday.\nCareer development and growth opportunities.\nHLZAE, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Milrose Consultants, LLC, is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
