Successful candidates must be able to work an average of 3-4 hours per week including flexible hours consisting of daytime, evening and weekend hours.\nMajor Job Responsibilities\nKey Responsibilities Include:\nDeliver and conduct safe instructional programs/classes following\nindustry standards through accurate body position and communication with a focus on quality customer experiences:\nPrepare, plan and execute classes to ensure all participants are working to the best of their ability while providing excellent customer service\n\nModify classes to appeal to all fitness levels of program participants\n\nEstablish positive relationships and clear communication channels with all staff and participants\n\nMaintain a safe and clean environment, including set-up and takedown, and proper usage and storage of equipment.\n\nProactively communicate program needs to facility maintenance staff and communicate any facility or equipment deficiencies with Coordinator, Recreation\n\nEvaluate situations for potential risks and proactively take action to address such risks\n\nMaintain communication with the Customer Service Desk to provide relevant program updates and to request support in the event of an emergency\n\nMaintain a high level of professionalism and handle sensitive situations with mature judgement\n\nComply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act\n\nReport any incidents, concerns or site damage to Coordinator, Recreation\nAttend and participate in mandatory staff functions\nSubmit required forms (payroll and onboarding requirements)\nEnsure applicable certifications or awards are current and provided to Coordinator, Recreation\nEducation & Experience\nMinimum Qualifications\nSecondary school diploma\n\nOne (1) year of instructing experience\n\nCurrent Standard First Aid and CPR C certification\n\nCurrent personal training or fitness instructor certification in a recognized organization\n\nCALA or WaterArt or AQX aquafitness instructor certification\n\nExcellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills\n\nStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment\n\nIn accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nAttending or graduate of post-secondary degree/diploma in Fitness & Health Promotion\n\nTwo (2) or more years instructing experience in multiple fitness disciplines\n\nHIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Aging\n\nFitness: Fitness Instructor Specialist or equivalent\n\nNote to Applicants\nThis posting is for an existing job vacancy.\nThe Town is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, accessible, and respectful workplace.
