Technicians may specialize in specific areas, such as solar power, electric vehicles, or backup power systems including liquid/gas fuel driven power generation devices and associated switchgear.\nCompensation: $95,000 to $105,000 based on experience (This is an hourly position with compensation annualized)\nResponsibilities\nInstall, commission, and configure BESS components, including batteries, inverters, control systems, and other electrical equipment.\nIndustrial communications and networking experience a plus: Including Routers, Modbus, CAN Bus and Codesys Tools\nPerform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.\nDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment malfunctions, often working with high-voltage DC systems, electrical switchgear, and low-voltage electronics.\nReplace defective components, such as inverters, batteries, and wiring.\nUse a variety of tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, load testers, and diagnostic software, to analyze systems and test components.\nDocument all maintenance activities, repairs, and test results, and complete work orders accurately.\nAdhere to all safety procedures and industry regulations, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.\nCollaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure seamless system integration.\nProvide technical support and training to end-users on equipment operation and safety protocols.\nPerform diagnostic tests on battery and charger systems, such as measuring battery performance and testing charge activity. \nQualifications\nRequired qualifications and skills\nLicensing: MA Journeyman Electrical License Required. Additional journeyman’s licenses desired (RI/CT/NH/VT/ME)\nEducation: A two-year technical diploma or equivalent certification in electrical, instrumentation, or a related field is often required. Experience may be considered in place of formal education.\nExperience: Previous experience with DC voltage, inverters, batteries, and other electrical systems is generally necessary. Hands-on experience in renewable energy or power plant environments is often preferred.\nTechnical expertise:Strong understanding of electrical theory and power systems.\nProficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment.\nAbility to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.\nWorking knowledge of relevant safety procedures, including LOTO and NFPA 70E standards.\n\nSoft skills:Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose complex issues and determine the best course of action.\nCommunication: Strong verbal and written skills for documenting work and interacting with clients and colleagues.\nIndependence: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.\n\nPhysical requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions. \nWork environment\nTechnicians may work in a variety of settings, including industrial facilities, solar farms, and residential sites. The role may require flexible hours, on-call status, and 50% travel time to various job sites.
