In addition to regular maintenance responsibilities, the Facility Lead Hand is responsible for the enforcement of quality cleaning standards, monitoring the preventative maintenance of equipment and ordering and maintaining material and supply inventory. The Lead Hand will train, mentor, coach and guide staff on equipment operation, continuous improvement, operational efficiencies, and general and preventative maintenance, while ensuring service levels and safety standards are met.\nMajor Job Responsibilities\nEnsures all building equipment is functioning for optimal efficiency\nPerform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on various types of building equipment as required\n\nPerform painting, minor plumbing, electrical, dry walling and various building related repairs\n\nLiaise with a broad range of stakeholders including customers, residents, utility companies, vendors, and other employees.\n\nValidate contractor invoicing for accurate details\n\nMonitor and maintain up to date licenses, registrations, equipment safety checks and warranties\n\nMonitor facility components inventory and maintenance records and recommends equipment replacement, upgrades, and repair work through annual capital and operating budget processes\n\nMaintain and administer purchasing and inventory control systems to ensure that adequate supplies, equipment are available\n\nCoordinate and plan the day to day activities related to facility operations and customer service at an assigned facility/group of facilities\nAssist in ensuring day to day facility operations are in accordance with applicable regulations and legislation\n\nAssist in creating daily work plans based on facility programming requirements\n\nAnticipates customers’ needs and proactively addresses potential concerns before they arise\n\nCommunicate with program, facility and customer service staff to maintain a high level of team efficiency\n\nAssist in the safe and efficient operation of facility systems; includes decision making in emergency situations to protect the safety of the public and/or the protection and maintenance of municipal assets\n\nComplete weekly facility inspections, identifying areas in need of maintenance or cleaning to maintain service levels, following up as needed and maintaining quality assurance programs\n\nCoordinate equipment and material requirements, including ordering, purchasing, and arranging delivery or pickup.\n\nRespond and resolve requests for service in a timely and efficient manner\n\nOther duties as assigned\n\nProvides day-to-day leadership and staff support to help ensure facility operations are delivered safely, consistently and in alignment with service standards.\nProvide daily direction and support to staff as needed\n\nProvide orientation, onboarding training and coaching to part time facility maintenance staff and monitor daily performance.\n\nAssist in the recruitment of part time staff\n\nAct as point of contact for staff questions and minor conflict resolution.\n\nProvide technical support, including in-house training, to ensure staff understand the procedures associated with the operation, maintenance, minor adjustment requirements and repairs to each facility’s components and systems\n\nEnsure policies and procedures are communicated and service level standards are adhered to and maintained.\n\nResponsible for scheduling part-time and seasonal staff\n\nConduct weekly safety talks on specific facility topics to promote a culture of safety and address site-specific hazards or concerns and ensure that health and safety procedures are followed at all times.\n\nMaintain work records, complete work orders, and provide feedback to the supervisor on facility operations and performance\n\nEducation & Experience\nMinimum Qualifications\nSecondary school diploma\n\nMinimum Two (2) years working in a municipal facility environment\n\nProven knowledge of facility operations (including facility automation, electrical, plumbing, security), building maintenance, HVAC systems and risk management.\n\nStandard CPR and First Aid\n\nCertified Pool Operator (CPO)\n\nWorking knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, i.e. OHSA\n\nStrong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills\n\nEffective leadership, problem solving/troubleshooting skills\n\nStrong mechanical aptitude to operate and train staff in the safe operation of relevant equipment\n\nProficiency in Office 365\n\nA valid Ontario Driver’s License Class “G” with a satisfactory driving record\n\nDetail orientated and ability to work independently or as part of a team.\n\nSatisfactory Criminal Record Check\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nPost-secondary diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Facility Management or related field and/or combination of relevant post secondary education and related experience\n\nExperience in preventative maintenance management\n\nKnowledge of pool operation, refrigeration experience\n\nSupervisory experience\n\nB” class refrigeration license\n\nDemonstrated leadership ability to organize, assist and direct Facilities staff and program with minimal supervision.\n\nDemonstrated basic budgeting, purchasing, quotation, receiving and invoicing skills.\n\nExcellent verbal, written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.\n\nNote to Applicants\nThis posting is for an existing job vacancy.\nThe Town is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, accessible, and respectful workplace.
