The ideal candidate will apply Human Centered Design (HCD) principles to develop and enhance user-centric applications with a strong focus on usability, accessibility, and user experience. The designer should have strong experience in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration, along with a demonstrated ability to design accessible digital experiences and support Section 508 compliance.\nThe candidate must reside within the continental US.\nResponsibilities:\nCollaborate with Business Analysts, developers, testers, and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into effective UI/UX solutions.\nDevelop research-oriented questions and use indirect user insights to inform design decisions when direct access to users is limited.\nCreate wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma to communicate design concepts and support development.\nServe as a UI/UX accessibility subject-matter resource, providing guidance to cross-functional teams on accessible design practices and Section 508 compliance.\nIncorporate accessibility and compliance considerations throughout the design process and prior to production release.\nReview accessibility findings and provide clear, actionable guidance for identifying and remediating Section 508 issues.\nSupport accessibility testing, audits, and remediation efforts by reviewing findings, recommending design solutions, and validating corrected implementations.\nIncorporate feedback from developers, testers, stakeholders, and users into iterative design improvements within an Agile delivery environment. \nContribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.\nProven experience as a UI/UX Designer with a portfolio demonstrating accessible web or application design work.\n Strong understanding and practical application of Human Centered Design principles in complex, constraint driven environments.\nDemonstrated experience designing accessible user interfaces and advising cross-functional teams on Section 508 compliance and remediation.\nTranslate accessibility and compliance requirements into practical recommendations for team members with varying levels of accessibility expertise.\nAbility to collaborate effectively with Business Analysts and stakeholders and translate research and user insights into practical design solutions.\nProficiency with Figma and experience working within Agile development teams.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly explain design and accessibility recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences. \nAdditional Qualifications:\nPrior government/federal experience.\nExperience supporting VA, DHA, HHS, or other federal/government projects. \nFamiliarity with VA Digital Service guidelines, USWDS, and federal accessibility standards and expectations.\nExperience supporting accessibility testing, audits, and remediation.\nExperience contributing to or working within a design system, including UI patterns, components, and documentation.\nFamiliarity with collaboration and documentation tools such as Miro, Mural, JIRA, and Confluence. \nAbility to obtain a government clearance.\nBenefits:\nMedical/Dental/Vision\n401k with Employer Match\nPTO + Federal Holidays\nCorporate Laptop\nTraining Opportunities\nRemote Opportunity\nNote: Selected candidates will be required to complete fingerprinting at a government facility and undergo a background check as part of the hiring process.\nMind Computing is an equal opportunity employer.
