C++ / Qt Software Engineer – Passenger Information Systems (PIS)
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced C++ / Qt Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software solutions for Passenger Information Systems (PIS) in the rail and transportation domain. The role involves developing high-performance HMI applications, passenger display systems, operator interfaces, CCTV monitoring solutions, and diagnostic tools using modern C++ and the Qt framework.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in C++, Qt, QML, and Qt Widgets, along with a good understanding of distributed software architectures and system integration.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop Passenger Information System (PIS) software using C++ and Qt Framework.
Develop rich and responsive Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications using QML and Qt Widgets.
Develop software applications for:
Passenger information displays
Route map and destination displays
CCTV monitoring systems
Operator control interfaces
System diagnostic and monitoring tools
Design and implement scalable, modular, and maintainable software architectures for complex distributed systems.
Develop, debug, optimize, and maintain software throughout the product lifecycle.
Support software integration, system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
Analyze technical issues and provide effective solutions during development and system deployment.
Collaborate closely with System Engineering, Hardware, Verification & Validation, and other cross-functional teams.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation activities.
Ensure software development follows defined coding standards, quality processes, and engineering best practices.
Strong programming experience in C++.
Hands-on experience with Qt Framework.
Strong experience in QML and Qt Widgets for HMI development.
Good understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture.
Experience developing applications for distributed or embedded systems.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with software integration, testing, and commissioning.
Familiarity with Linux/Windows-based development environments.
Experience with Git or other version-control systems.
Experience in railway, transportation, automotive, industrial automation, or embedded systems.
Experience with Passenger Information Systems (PIS) or related railway applications.
Knowledge of CCTV/video monitoring systems.
Experience developing real-time or safety-/mission-critical applications.
Knowledge of communication protocols and distributed systems.
Exposure to CI/CD, automated testing, and software quality tools.
Familiarity with railway standards such as EN 50128 / EN 50155 would be an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Strong ownership and commitment to software quality.
Willingness to support integration, testing, and commissioning activities when required.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant professional experience in C++ / Qt application development, preferably within embedded, transportation, industrial, or other complex engineering environments.
