You’ll feel valued as part of a tight-knit team, united in delivering exceptional guest experiences and thriving in a company dedicated to fostering an outstanding workplace culture.\n Oaks Cairns Hotel are looking for a skilled and motivated Demi Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.\nThis role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with food preparation, cooking, and presentation, while helping deliver a high-quality dining experience for guests.\nKey Responsibilities Include:\nPrepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.\nAssist in the development and plating of high-quality meals.\nMaintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.\nWork collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.\nSupport and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.\nContribute to menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen efficiency improvements.\nExpected Hours: Full time, 38 hours per week\nLocation: Minor Hotels Australasia, Oaks Cairns Hotel,59/63 Esplanade, Cairns City QLD 4870\n Salary: $79,423 - $82,000 (excluding super)\n Approved Sponsor: Minor Hotels Australasia Limited (previously known as Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited)\n To be successful in this role you will have:\nPrevious experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar kitchen role.\nRelevant Australian cookery qualifications, ideally Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.\nKnowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.\nUnderstanding of HACCP, OH&S, and kitchen hygiene requirements.\nStrong teamwork and communication skills.\nPositive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking.\nFlexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.\n At Minor Hotels, we value our people as the heart of our success.
