Provides engineering advice, as needed to design and drafting staff.\n\nTasks may be focused on electrical engineering or mechanical engineering depending on the department’s needs and the needs of the specific projects.\n\nGeneral Project Engineering duties are also expected, such as monitoring material purchases and labor expenditures and comparing to planned project metrics.\n\nEssential Duties\nStrong PLC (Emerson Machine Edition) and Electrical Controls experience, with demonstrated abilities to design and lead custom electro-mechanical projects.\nStrong ability to organize project activities to ensure schedules are met and budgets respected.\nKnowledge of advanced automation controls, with ability to adapt new technologies to meet system demands.\nKnowledge of various communication control protocols, such as MODBUS, PROFINET, TCPIP.\nAbility to pass security checks to gain access to DOE Sites as needed for installations and issue resolutions.\nPerforms routine and non-routine engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.\nAbility to lead small projects, ensuring designs, costs, and delivery meets the project requirements.\nSolves a range of straightforward problems, analyzes solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.\nReceives assistance and instructions on unusual or more complex features and possible solutions, as needed.\nEnsures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.\nIndependently evaluates, selects and applies standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.\nWorks on special projects, as directed.\n\nEssential Requirements\nDemonstrated knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.\nGood communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.\nAbility to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.\nGood problem identification and problem resolution skills.\nGood ability to assess quoted project costs, and design accordingly.\n\nAdditional Requirements\nAbility to create and/or modify User’s Manuals and general equipment manuals (ie.
