Powering a new electric world for a brighter, more secure future.\n The Control Engineer is responsible for effectively designing, developing and implementing control systems for Generators that meet and/or exceed client, safety and regulatory requirements, to include but not limited to Paralleling Systems; Automatic Transfer Switches; Automatic Transfer Operations; PLC & HMI’s; and Protective Relaying. The Control Engineer will utilize programming and engineering principles to optimize efficiency, quality, and safety, often by troubleshooting issues and making improvements to existing systems through analysis and testing. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, automation technologies, and control system design, specifically in the context of switchgear applications. The incumbent in this position will be required to travel based on project scope.\nEssential Duties/Responsibilities:\nThe following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. MCG retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.\nSystem Design:\nDesign and develop control systems based on project requirements and timelines.\nDevelop control system architectures including hardware and software specifications for switchgear manufacturing processes, considering factors such as safety, reliability, and efficiency.\nDevelop and maintain HMI (Human Machine Interface) terminals for user interaction with controllers.\nIntegrate control systems for low and medium voltage switchgear.\nProgramming:\nWrite code for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) to control equipment and operations\nTesting and debugging:\nConduct thorough testing to identify and resolve issues in the control system related to switchgear manufacturing.\nTest and commission control systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.\nParticipate in the performance testing, commissioning, and startup of projects.\nDocumentation:\nCreate detailed documentation for control systems designs, including specifications, operating manuals, and troubleshooting guides.\nTrack modifications for future reference.\nMiscellaneous:\nWork closely with project management and engineering teams to ensure systems are designed and delivered correctly and in a timely manner.\nIdentify opportunities for automation solutions; develop and implement automation solutions to improve efficiency and productivity in manufacturing processes.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n Required Knowledge/Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Instrumentation or a related field.\n5+ years of experience in control system design and implementation, preferably in the switchgear industry.\nTechnical Knowledge - Ability to develop and design Low and Medium Voltage Switchgear, Generator and Automatic Transfer controls.\nGenerator controls (Woodward), single and paralleling systems\nAutomatic Transfer Switches\nAutomatic transfer operations (ATO)\nGE, Siemens, Modicon - PLC/HMI knowledge\nProtective relays - testing and programming\nSatisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable).\nFamiliarity with PPE protocols and related electrical safety procedures.\nRequired Skills/Abilities\nProficiency in programming PLCs using ladder logic (LL), function block diagrams (FBD), and other applicable programming languages.\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings related to switchgear.\nStrong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including circuit analysis, power systems, and motor control.\nAbility to work efficiently in cross-functional teams.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people with various levels of technical understanding.\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.\nExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nThorough knowledge of maintenance testing, medium and low voltage breakers, transformers\nSelf-Motivated and able to work and resolve issues both independently and in team setting as required.\nCertified OSHA 10 required or OSHA 30 (preferred)\n A Note to our Recruitment Partners: We really appreciate the interest, but MCG currently manages hiring through our internal team.
