The Tooling Engineer is a key player in ensuring an efficient, innovative, robust and cost-effective approach is used in all of our new tool development. This role is a primary resource for internal and OEM design reviews. Open minded cooperation with our Engineering Department, outside tool shops and the customer is an integral part of this position. An individual with a collaborative, team-based approach is essential. This position will be based out of our Technical Centre in Kitchener and requires International travel to all of our facilities within Canada, the United States and Mexico to support business needs.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nManage tool builds to ensure craftsmanship and delivery requirements are met. \nReview and approve all tool designs prior to tool build. \nEvaluate and recommend tooling sources. \nMaintain and continuously refine company tooling standards. \nSupport Engineering and Design activity from a tooling perspective including early feasibility reviews. \nDevelop costing standards for quoting tools for new business. \nObtain/develop tooling quotes to support new business activity. \nContinuously seek opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality and reduce delivery times for tooling\nApprove and sign off tools once they have been completed.\nOther duties as assigned.\n Our Ideal Candidate:\nCertified Mould Maker or equivalent education & hands-on experience\nMust have solid working knowledge of the requirements of tool actions required for the manufacturing of parts\nExperienced with various injection mold designs and build concepts\nProficient in interpretation and analysis of Mold Flow Reports\nSound knowledge of metallurgy as it applies to the best practices in injection mold manufacturing and maintenance\nExperienced in developing and reviewing feasibility reports for injection mold design and optimal part design concepts\nKnowledge of the various mold textures and the application process\nExceptional inter-personal and communication skills, both internally & externally, verbally & digitally\nExperience effectively attending meetings, communicating and presenting directly with the OEM Customer \nExperience with quoting new tooling from both North American and offshore suppliers\nProficient experience with MS Office including Power Point, Word & Excel \nExperience with CAD modelling and analysis an asset\nAnalytical problem solving & decision-making abilities\nMust be a self-directed person that is also capable of working within a team environment\nPreference will be given to candidates with plastic injection moulding, thermoplastics and/or automotive industry experience.\n\nJob Details:\n\nSalary Range: 95k – 125k annually.\nEmployment Type: Full-time\nWork Location: 60 Washburn Drive, Kitchener, Ontario (on-site)\nHours of Work: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday to Friday\nJob Vacancy: This posting is to fill an open position\n\nArtificial intelligence may be used during the recruitment process to screen or assess candidate applications.\nWe thank all candidates for their interest, however only those who qualify for an interview will be contacted. \n\nMitchell Plastics and Ultra Manufacturing are committed to providing a barrier-free workplace.
