Choose MITRE for a career with purpose - and help shape the future.Department Summary:\nThe N558 department provides multidisciplinary systems and mission engineering for U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), and their subordinate commands.\nRoles & Responsibilities:\nAs a Computer and Data Science Intern in Omaha, you will work with a team of experts supporting complex technical and operational challenges.\nSupport software development for data analysis, visualizations, or modeling and simulations.\nApply knowledge in data science, computer science, mathematics, operations research, or related disciplines to real-world problems.\nAssist with AI/ML research efforts.\nCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams that may include software engineers, data scientists, experiment designers, domain experts, and other technical staff.\nPresent findings, prototypes, or technical work products to teammates and stakeholders\nBasic Qualifications:\nSustained excellence in academic performance.\nMust be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.\nEffective written and oral communication skills.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top-Secret security Clearance.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nDemonstrated interest in serving the public.\nExperience applying computer science or data science learning to an internship, research, or lab setting.\nKnowledge of STRATCOM, NORAD/NORTHCOM, and SOUTHCOM missions.\nHands-on software development skills in a modern programming language (e.g. Python)\nWorking knowledge of data science workflow from data acquisition to reporting findings.\nExperience in any of the following areas: AI/ML, software development and debugging, cybersecurity, communication networks, operations research, data science/analysis.\nCurrently possess or is eligible for a TS/SCI clearance.\nClearance: In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may besubmittedfor a U.S. Government Security clearance. This isdeterminedby the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship.
