Choose MITRE for a career with purpose - and help shape the future.Department Summary:\nThe Mechanical and Reliability Department provides innovative solutions for electronic prototypes designed for advanced sensing, communication, and navigation systems. Areas of expertise include ground, airborne and shipboard systems. Engineers from the group are critical to all aspects of prototype or system development beginning with conceptual design, continuing through detail design, system integration and test, fabrication, and environmental testing. We provide technical guidance through rigorous analytical, physical, and computational methods with data driven products to enhance decision making and risk management.\nRoles & Responsibilities:\nMITRE's Mechanical and Reliability Department is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical and environmental analyses for ground, airborne and shipboard systems.\nThe successful candidate will:\nWork with cross-functional technical teams comprised of both in-house and sponsor personnel in the development and evaluation of command and control systems.\nPerform dynamics, structural, and thermofluids analyses at the component, individual item, and system level.\nBe responsible for deliverables or parts of deliverables to sponsors.\nBasic Qualifications:\nTypically requires 2-5 years of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience\nSkilled in the use of CAD software and generating design concepts and detailed design for complex mechanical assemblies\nKnowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)\nExperience conducting engineering analyses in the areas of structures, dynamics, or thermofluids, including the use of finite element analysis (FEA) techniques\nExperience working collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills\nMust be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.\nThis position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience working on ground, airborne, or shipboard electronic systems\nExperience with SolidWorks CAD tools\nExperience with ANSYS (e.g. Workbench, APDL, Mechanical, LS-Dyna, CFX, Fluent, Icepak)\nExperience with mechanical, reliability, and environmental test and evaluation such as use of vibration tables, thermal chambers, etc.\nExperience proposing and conducting technical research projects.\nThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):\nSecretThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):\nNoneSalary compensation range and midpoint:\n$95,200 - $119,000 - $142,800 AnnualWork Location Type:\nOnsiteIt is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
