About the role:

MUFG seeking a Client Onboarding Specialist to join their GCIB Middle Office team in Australia. This role offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal part in delivering a seamless onboarding journey for Corporate and Financial Institution clients, ensuring an exceptional customer experience that directly supports revenue-generating activities. You will be at the heart of client engagement, working closely with Relationship Managers and Sales teams to foster strong connections and promote collaboration across departments.

  • You will be instrumental in facilitating smooth onboarding processes for, coordinating internal resources and resolving issues efficiently to ensure a first-class customer experience.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Client Onboarding Specialist you will facilitate every stage of the onboarding journey from initial engagement through document preparation to final account setup ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining efficient turnaround times. Success in this role hinges on your ability to manage multiple stakeholders collaboratively while continuously improving processes to support business growth.

  • Facilitate the end-to-end onboarding of Corporate and Financial Institution clients by engaging with clients, coordinating internal resources, resolving any issues promptly, and orchestrating the entire onboarding journey.
  • Communicate onboarding requirements clearly to clients alongside KYC teams, ensuring expectations are understood and met throughout the process.
  • Promote collaboration by fostering strong connections between clients, Relationship Managers, and KYC teams, creating a sense of belonging within the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements during the onboarding process, including conducting necessary checks such as FACTA, CRS, and OTC regulations.
  • Assist clients with document preparation including agreements, account setup, and other essential documentation; independently review onboarding documents for accuracy.
  • Maintain fast turnaround times in completing onboarding requirements with minimal rework or refer backs among internal stakeholders; focus on achieving 'first time right' outcomes with minimal touch points.
  • Receive Deal Handover Forms from Relationship Managers or product teams containing client requirements, fees, pricing, and contacts; set up internal calls if complex implementation requires clarification.
  • Draft onboarding document requirements with high-level plans, timelines, documentation lists, and next steps; establish communication protocols regarding contacts, frequency, and methods of recurring meetings.
  • Gather and share all necessary documentation (KYC requirements, Board Resolutions, Account Opening forms, product-related documents) with clients; coordinate additional KYC needs as required between client and KYC team.
  • Collect signed documentation from clients and coordinate internal registration and setup with various middle- and back-office teams; ensure documents, pricing, and fees are accurately captured in systems before go-live.

What we are looking for:

You bring comprehensive familiarity with KYC requirements specific to these sectors along with hands-on customer-facing expertise that enables you to build trustful relationships.

  • Minimun 3 years’ proven experience in client onboarding within the banking sector specifically dealing with Corporate and Financial Institution clients.
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce or Law from a leading university demonstrating academic excellence relevant to financial services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of KYC requirements related to Corporate and FI client onboarding processes.
  • External customer-facing experience is essential for effective communication and relationship-building.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills enabling you to convey information clearly across diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments fostering co-operation among colleagues from different functions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with strong organisational skills ensures accurate documentation handling throughout the onboarding process.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with presentation abilities allow you to engage confidently with both internal stakeholders and external clients.
