Overview of the Department/Section

The Risk Management Unit acts as the Bank’s independent second line of defence for credit, market, liquidity and operational risks. It comprises the Risk Management Department and the Internal Control Department and works closely with Front Office, Finance, Operations, Legal, Compliance and regional risk functions.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Credit Risk Officer supports the independent assessment, monitoring and reporting of the Bank’s credit risk exposures. Working under the guidance of senior risk officers, the Associate contributes to counterparty and transaction reviews, portfolio oversight, data quality and committee reporting, while ensuring compliance with the Bank’s risk appetite, policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor counterparty exposures, credit limits, concentrations, watch-list indicators and material market or sector developments.
  • Investigate data exceptions, limit excesses and emerging risks, escalating material issues promptly and supporting the definition and tracking of remedial actions.
  • Prepare accurate and timely management information, portfolio analyses and materials for the Credit Committee and other risk governance forums.
  • Maintain complete and reliable counterparty, rating and limit data in relevant risk systems and supporting records.

Governance and Collaboration

  • Apply the Bank’s credit policies, risk appetite, procedures and delegated authorities consistently, and support regulatory, audit and internal control requests.
  • Work constructively with business lines and support functions while maintaining the independence and effective challenge expected of the second line of defence.
  • Contribute to process improvements, automation, procedure updates and ad hoc risk analyses, and provide backup support for other Risk Management Department activities when required.

Work Experience

  • Up to three years of relevant experience in banking, credit analysis, risk management, audit, corporate finance or a related field.
  • Exposure to corporate or financial-institution credit analysis, lending products or counterparty risk would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with financial statements, data analysis and management reporting is desirable.

Sills and Experience

Functional/Technical competencies

  • Sound understanding of financial statements, key credit ratios, cash-flow analysis and fundamental credit risk concepts.
  • Awareness of credit risk governance, internal ratings, limits, collateral, covenants, concentration risk and early-warning indicators.
  • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative information, form a balanced risk view and present conclusions clearly.
  • Good command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with databases, reporting tools or basic data automation is an advantage.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; professional proficiency in French is desirable.

Education/Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in finance, economics, accounting, business, mathematics, engineering or another relevant quantitative discipline.
  • Progress toward a recognized risk or finance qualification, such as FRM or CFA, would be an advantage but is not required.
